Well I guess they finally found a strong contender for Miss Saigon (Kim). And would you believe it? I think both Kim and Chris will be Disney Stars.

Meet Anna Maria Perez De Tagle aka Ashley Dewitt from Hannah Montana and Camp Rock. She was already seen by Cameroon Mackintosh

Here is a write up about her "audition" for the rold from Just jared:

That actually is the reason why she got Casted...She's unknown in the USA but already big in Asia. She's actually the only Asian artist in the Billboard 200 Top 10 in the USA and Top 5 in Canada, Ever

Well they did autotuned her a little in her 1st single out of her album Pyramid with Iyaz

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BhT2HhEllpw

But the rest of the songs on her album they preserved her voice without autotuning:

In This song

Nobody's singing to me

Note to God

It's probably one of the very few mainstream pop/ RNB that dont have significant Autotuning in the songs besides the Adult contemporary and Acoustic genre Albums

Glee Girls, Lock Up Your Men! Pop Star Charice Is Coming

Sources confirm pop star Charice is coming to Glee this fall in a recurring role.

So who will she be playing? What's the Shannon Elizabeth connection? And what's the latest on those Justin Timberlake rumors?

I'm told Charice will play a foreign exchange student (just reported by EW) with an ah-mazing singing voice--who will catch the eye of at least one Glee boy (shades of S.E. in American Pie), and the stank eye of one Ms. Rachel Berry (Lea Michele).

Meanwhile, we're told there is "nothing to report" regarding rumors that that other singing sensation you may have heard of, Justin Timberlake, will be coming on the show--at least not yet. Multiple cast members--including Lea, Jenna Ushkowitz and even his doppelganger Matthew Morrison--have told me they'd love to have his sexy back on for a M.M./J.T. dance-off, so keep those fingers crossed.

Now, start your betting. Which guy will catch Charice's eye? And what are we gonna do about it?

=================================================================

I'm really excited about this since back in 2009, a thread about Miss Saigon being made into a Movie, a lot have thrown her name around as Kim.

Well now we can see her acting out in a Broadway Musical like made for TV drama, and see if she really have the acting chops for a Broadway Musical made for Movie, that apparently will start filming in 2011.

Broadway Legend Ms. Lea Salonga was reportedly very ecstatic about Charice's Drama Musical debut and have offered her mentorship to Charice, whenever she is back in her own country. Take note she might be the only one with a Broadway and WestEnd Legend mentoring her in acting among the GLEE kids this Fall.

What Say you?

So i just want to share this info from Lea's own twitter account:

She was asked by BrokenSword 008

@MsLeaSalonga Great! I wish you'll play Kim in the movie version of Miss Saigon. Variety has it, it will be made into a movie in 2011. TC

and her reply is:

@BrokenSword008 Ay hindi na... I don't think I could sing "I'm 17 and I'm new here today" with any iota of credibility.

I wonder if they are going to tap her as a consultant for the lead role?

The person/persons who suggested Daniel Radcliffe and David Archuletta for Chris should be tarred and feathered.

I started that and i backed it up too...

1. David archuleta --- good singer have a tiny bit of acting (can be trained he is smart and the right age)

2. Radcliff -- good actor have a lot of stage experience before films somebody also mentioned he is on a musical revival.

Both have star power pull since the Lead is an unknown they need people who can

I hope that Lea's part if ever, would be an additional character that actually have a lot of screen time...she deserves a shot at the Oscars.

Also that Grammy nomination that flower Drum girl did her injustice by making her ineligible cause of a technicality.

ms saigon and les miz, those two shows i cant imagine not sung through.

Lez mis was done without being sung through (but its from the novel not the play) and it was great.

However Miss Saigon will definetely need to have some of the parts sung through, I'm thinking like the Dreamgirls.

Yah i don't know but I believe your in denial. Charice's accent as you said is nowhere near those stereotypes that your alluding. Its a very clear English and most Amazing of all it comes from an Asian that isnt even born or have lived in the USA.

I lost my accent within 3 weeks of arriving in the USA myself and they can't believe that i came to the USA not even a month when I enrolled in Junior High.

That's how good is the education in the Phillippines when it comes to

"Daniel Dae Kim would be a good Thuy if he was younger. It is implied that Thuy and Kim are around the same age. "

No, it's not. We only know that they are cousins. His high-ranking military position would make him (most likely) older than Kim. I would hazard a guess he's around Chris' or John's age.

Yah i have to agree with Fosse on this one.

Usually the girl is younger than the boy in arrange marriages.

I'm hoping in authentic location...in Saigon Vietnam.

Vietnam is a more open country nowadays even if its still communist its not the same vietnam of 1975-1995.

Most Vietnam Era films were filmed in either Philippines or Thailand, that's only because of the situation of the government with the Communist regine in Vietnam.

These are Filipino-Americans artist that needs a break

Ramielle Malubay (Finalist top 9)

Jasmine Trias (Finalist Top 3)

Camielle Velasco (Finalist Top 10)

Coco Lee is a bit on the older side.. There is a current rising star in Asia who is Chinese-American who won Hawaii's statewide singing contest can't pin her name though.

Jake G is a good actor but I'm afraid he is a little too old for whoever will be playing Kim.

And as far as Accents go! Even American Accent differs from region to region. new England accent is way different from Georgian accent, New Orleans, New Mexico and Ebonics. Does that mean they aren't American too? So what is the proper American accent I wonder?

And about the streotyping of Asians...That's sooo 1960's we have progressed as a society to a point that you see Asian America

Ok i read that part in her blog...She is extremely fluent in English.

1. She went to O.B Montesorri _ like I said only Foreign diplomats sons and daughter or Extremely elite Families can afford to go.

2. From that Blog she confuses 2 tagalog words namin and natin which isnt bad considering its almost the same meaning. UNLESS she knew Ilongo first before Tagalog and FILIPINOS from Manila are notorious in Laughing at thier peers for gramatical errors in both English and Tagal

re: Miss Saigon on Track for Film Treatment

That's because not everybody can afford to go to O.B. Montessori. The ones who go there are Sons and Daughter of diplomats, and the Elite Political Families of the Philippines. She is the Grand Daughter of Jovito Salonga former Senate President of the Philippines.

Or did she not mention that in her autobiography?
