re: How's The Producers in Vegas doing?
 Mar 24 2007, 12:45:48 PM
The ushers last night told us the same thing, that it is always sold out, yet everyone I've spoken to that's seen it, has said the house is only at about half.

Saw the show last night, the house was only between 1/3 and 1/2 full, on a Friday night...I'll be suprised if it makes it to June.
Fosse Tour Questions
 Sep 27 2006, 03:55:06 PM
I've had some questions about the first Fosse tour that happened around 2000 with Reva Rice.

First: Why did they decide to cut "Nowadays/Hot Honey Rag?"

Second: Why did Reva Rice get more than her fair share of songs unlike Broadway? She seemed to get Dancing in the Dark, I Gotcha and Who's Sorry Now? Not saying she didn't do an awesome job with them, but the lead didn't have them on Broaday (even when Reva did it on Broadway), so why on tour?

Thanks for any help
re: 'Sweet Charity' Tour Cast Announced (SD Reviews)

As far as digitally removing Christina, I don't know if they did, since she only appeared with the female ensemble for a brief second (and you couldn't see their faces, so it easily could've been the tour ensemble). Also, please remember that the only reason for this Chartiy production from the beginning has been to market a star in it. The whole marketing campaign on Broadway was "Come see Christina Applegate as Sweet Charity." So now on tour, they would market it as "Come see Molly Ringwald
re: Amy in Joseph

I think that at the point the tour of "Joseph..." will have gone non-Equity, which means both Amy and Patrick will be gone. And, as of the moment, Amy is out for a while because of vocal problems. Hope this helps!
re: Leads understudying another slightly bigger lead

Valarie Wright played Dolly Tate and understudied Annie in the Bernadette Peter's "Annie Get Your Gun"'

Marina Prior played Cosette and understudied Fantine in the Australian production of "Les Miserables"

There have also been cases of Joanne's understudying Mimi in some productions of "Rent" but I might just be making that up in my head.

In the recent Troika (Voytko/Litzinger) tour of "Evita," the guy who played Magaldi understudied Che (I forget his name) and Kate Ma

Kathy's contract was up and she decided not to renew, so Sarah was hired to replace her. I do believe that Sarah is contracted to play the part until the end of the tour...

If you get a chance to see Sarah, do, she's really good....

I saw Sarah Jane Everman when I saw it in Chicago. I thought her acting was quite good and her singing was decent. She did flub a few lines here and there and started speaking when her mic whas not on, but considering she was an understudy (and even not considering) I thought she was pretty darn good.
re: Thoroughly Modern Millie national tour cast bios now up!

The show has the same costumes, but the sets and lighting are different. The only costume that's different is Flannery's wig doesn't have that side point on it.

The show is pretty good. My only complaint is that Kriste Belt is WAAAYYYY to young to be playing Muzzy.

Other than that, it's pretty good for a non-equity tour.

re: Wicked video clip [sorry for the Wicked post]
 Aug 6 2005, 11:06:10 PM
The video is part of the B-Roll package for the show (the video that is sent to the theatres from the production company for marketing purposes).

Also, I thought Kendra was wonderful as Glinda. Both live and on the tape....(but that's just my personal opinion). Definately the best I've ever seen (out of her, JLT, Stacie, Kate, and Megan). And again, just my opinion.

re: differences between LA wicked and the Broadway one
 Jul 26 2005, 07:18:20 PM
In reply to the question about the costumes, yes, when Megan took over for JLT they made the switch over to the new Glinda costumes from the tour and Chicago productions. They kept the old costumes up until when JLT left, even for the understudies, because I saw Stacie go on right before JLT left and she still had the old costumes. So, now I guess they must be permenant (no matter how much I don't like them).

Hope this helps.

re: Jones & Cassidy to team up for 'Joseph' tour?

Actually, Amy Adams from "American Idol" is going to be playing the Narrator. The rest of the show has not been cast yet, but they are currently in the process of doing that.

Well, as of the Sunday afternoon show, Rick was still in it...
re: Sound of Music asia tour?

The show is being produced by Troika Entertainment as a non-equity tour (at least the current one). There are no names starring in it right now.
re: Strange understudy role pairings
 Mar 24 2005, 09:43:30 PM
Back in the day, in Les Mis, the same actress(es) would cover both Eponine and Cosette, which was weird since one's a high soprano and one's a belt alto.

I don't think that any cities have signed contracts yet for the tour.
