Stritch tearing it up 70s style (Company) Jun 26
2013, 01:18:53 PM
Glad you guys are enjoying my clip!! It's from a documentary called The Great American Dream Machine (produced by Shelia Nevins who would later work with Stritch on the At Liberty HBO documentary) I recently spoke with Pamela Meyers and showed her this clip she said this is the original Michael Bennett Choreography (though obviously things change for TV). If any of you are enjoying this clip and are in NYC you should check out my show I do every Wednesday night Vodka Stinger's Big B

Linda Eder at the Town Hall 10/13 Oct 14
2012, 01:21:12 PM
no they did sing In His Eyes. This was literally the worst concert I've ever seen. And not being a fan of J and H I was really out of my element. I must say that she sang the **** out of everything you just couldn't hear her thanks to the crack team at the dreadful Town Hall. Town Hall really knows how to make your theater going experience one you'll never forget. For instance keeping the temperature as close to 98.6 as possible it makes you feel at one with the performers. Or the 6

Into The Woods - TIX / LOTTO / LINE Jul 25

My boyfriend won the online lottery yesterday (which I honestly thought was a ploy) and we ended up getting better seats than some friends who got in line at 5 am.

into the woods review Jul 25
2012, 01:42:18 AM
Into the Woods is such a special show to me. It was not only the first cast recording I ever bought but it was the first CD. I know that recording breath for breath word for word. My high school was the first high school ever licensed to produce Into the Woods, and Mr. Ulmer did an amazing job. It was pure magic to me. It is the reason I came to New York, and became an actor (and later a witch). So I have been pissing myself for months waiting for this, even going as far as forgiving my long tim

Carrie post-mortem Apr 12
2012, 06:24:13 PM
YES! Those turds have no right telling this story. we need to take it away from them. They don't get to play with Carrie anymore. Bad boys (making scolding face and wagging finger) Although I get to scratch "See Carrie the musical" off my bucket list, I could have used a real belter as Margaret (Carolee Carmello) or at least a real crazy person (Alice Ripley). Some spandex body suits, and some Debbie Allen body roll Choreo. Ah well..

Carrie Article from 1997 Feb 25
2012, 11:42:32 AM
Just filled out my survey from MCC on what I thought they could do to fix Carrie the Musical. Thought I'd post it here as well. first i'd like to say I am a huge fan of the material (book, movie, original broadway production) and have been looking forward to this since it was announced. Sadly I don't think the creators feel the same way about Carrie. From what I saw they are afraid to tell the story of Carrie. In fact it hardly felt like she was in act one. I understand wanting to shy a

Howard Kissel passes away :( Feb 25
2012, 11:39:24 AM
He was my teacher for Musical Theater History in college. Such a soft spoken introspective man. He had a voice like Bob Ross, so soothing I often had to fight being lulled to sleep not because what he was saying was uninteresting just because of his naturally calming presence. I used to stay after class and make him tell me stories of old timey theater things (which he adored doing). Howard Kissel RIP.

Happy Birthday Kay Thompson Nov 9
2011, 11:42:27 AM
It all started with Liza at the Palace (for me anyways). I thought who is this woman? I must know more about her. Slowly but surely I found clips here and there, I finally watched Funny Face, and even read Eloise for the first time. Kay Thompson is unlike anyone else. Check out my blog I did about, and of course read Sam Irving's book if you haven't. Happy Birthday Kay! http://vinylw*ores.blogspot.com/2011/09/kay-thompson.html

The First Nudie Musical Aug 25
2011, 07:36:15 PM
It's great news all around!! I think this would be a great stage musical. The music itself is so wonderful, and the material is camptastically perfect. Fingers crossed it will happen. "it's a low-budget thing so it's not going to ever look like a big-budget or even medium budget movie' I love the low rent quality of the movie, its one of the things that attracts me most to the material. I guess I am gonna have to get something to play Blue Ray's. Thanks so much BK

The Harvey Girls Aug 8
2011, 05:06:21 PM
I think it could be a great stage show and the best part is (as John Fricke pointed out in the talk back) there were 7 writers listed on the film. Which ended up hurting the story in the end so its kind of a blank slate. There are lots of gaps to fill but the outline is there. And once flushed out I think this would be a really charming show. Probably have to throw in a few more songs but Johny Mercer wrote one or two songs in his life so thats an easy fix. anyways just a few thoughts. Any

Gypsy Rose Lee Mar 4

I couldn't agree more Clap Yo' Hands. I adore that take, she sounds like perfection. And she hits that last note strong with full vibrato, thrilling. Course I am biased, I do love that Lansbury lady across the board.
