In certain interviews, they show clips of the original Beauty Queen; they seemed to have filmed the production in the late 1990s....oh to get my hands on that
Successes of DANCING AT LUGHNASA and THE BEAUTY QUEEN...

In 1992, Dancing at Lughnasa received 8 Tony nominations, winning three - Play, Director, Featured Actress (for Brid Brennan's Agnes). In 1998, Beauty Queen of Leenane earned 6 Tony nominations, winning four - Director, Actress (for Marie Mullen), Featured Actress (for Anna Manahan) and Featured Actor (for Tom Murphy).

Can anyone that saw these original productions on Broadway share their memories and thoughts? Was Marie Mullen that amazing that she deserved the Tony for Best Actress. W

What was the 1989 SWEENEY TODD like?

Did Susan H. Schulman's 1989 Broadway revival of 'Sweeney' remain faithful to Hal's original production, or did much change material/design wise, does anyone know? I'd be interested to know anything about this production... What were Gunton and Fowler like in the leads?

Andrea McArdle's 1977 Tony loss...

I didn't see the original Annie, but I know everyone says that Dorothy Loudon was outstanding and deserved every bit of that Tony. However, I think Dorothy should have been put in the Featured Actress category that year so that Andrea McArdle could have won an equally deserving Tony in the Leading Actress category; Loudon would have won the Featured Tony.
When do Broadway actors get their scripts and stuff like that?
 Jul 10 2011, 07:43:49 PM
Was just wondering what is the usual format for a Broadway show... Do the actors get their scripts and scores on that first day of rehearsal/read through or can they request their material before the rehearsal process to work on stuff on their own?

For revivals, if the original script (intact) is being used, do they use the original copies like for amateur productions or are fresh newly types scripts issued to the company?

Any ideas?
