re: Casting Shrek Lead in 'Shrek The Musical' Jul 3

I went to the audition in LA and the turn out was not that great. There were only a couple of people there that were equity and the rest were non-eq (It was was run as an open call). They were also making a documentary of the Making of Shrek the Musical.

re: Opera on Broadway? May 15

I am pretty sure that Kelly O'hara did not win the Met Council Auditions. I just checked and she wasnt anywhere on the list on the Met website. She studied classically, and she might have won or placed at the regional auditions. As for Kristin Chenoweth being wearing a mic in Candide, all the others were wearing mics as well. It wasn't just her. With an orchestra that large and sharing a stage with the actors, I think most opera singers would have difficulty singing without a mic of so

I did it yesterday. I got there like a little before 10 and the box office people were running a little late due to the trains being messed up or something. I was the 6th person there. I sat in the rear mezz and I thought it was fine seats.

re: What Do I Take My Date to See Apr 3
2007, 09:47:23 PM
I have taken my date to Grey Gardens, but that was because she wanted to see it. I would think Jersey Boys would be great, if you are willing to get there by like 7ish. I went on a tuesday and we got there a little before 8 and we were the second people there. Company is great. I would say no to Spring Awakening if it was a first date, but that would be me and this obviously isnt your 1st date.

re: The Met...ever been there? (A few questions) Mar 31

SeanMartin, they still rope off the standing room in the orchestra. At least they did when I saw Eugene Ognegin. I am pretty sure that someone like Kristin Chenoweth will have a mic (her voice is a smaller voice, as in I don't think it will carry in that hall). On a side note, my voice teacher says that the real Pros know where the "sweet spot" on the stage for filling the hall is. It is, I think, down stage left; right near the edge of the orchestra pit. Another side note, the Met Council Fina

The only place I have ever been that I have had a hard time seeing is when I did standing room. I stood in the back of the orchestra and they are three rows of standing, so if you are not in the front row, you better hope the people infront of you are short. haha, I also love the fact that you can sometimes get free tickets to final dress rehearsals if you are student. That is how I saw The First Emperor, which was amazing.

Dress Circle is good, if you are used to a broadway house be prepared for it being really large. Turandot is an amazing opera, and Andrea Gruber is a graduate of my school. I have worn a suit to the Opera and then also a pair of jeans and a nice dress shirt.

At Equity Open Calls, both Non-Eq and Equity are seen. They have a list you sign up on before the call starts, but it all depends on what time you get there. At one open call I went to, the first person got there at 5:30 in the morning, so beware. Hope that helps

Jason is great in it too. He has one of my favorite songs from the show. It is called "I Miss The Music".

I know they are making a few changes here and there because Jason Danieley told me. I went to his concert he did at Princeton with Marin and afterwards he told me that were starting rehearsals and that he was excited because there were going to be some changes.

re: any bad seats on the Pantages Theater in LA? Feb 9
2007, 11:02:48 PM
I always thought that the Pantages has pretty good seating compared to some. It is really big and wide, but I could see everything and I sat in the back section of the left mezzanine. I saw The Lion King there as well as Wicked, and Dirty Rotten. They are not horrible, it was almost like sitting in the same section at the Gershwin for me.
