SoM, but there isn't alot of stage time for the ensemble...plus its boring and overdone.

re: I Gesture WAY Too Much. How Can I Fix This? Jan 29
2007, 11:13:04 PM
this thread could not have come at a better time, as i was just told by the choreographer of a show i am currently doing, that i flail my arms everytime i sing. This is because i don't know what else to do with them, and i dont' want to just stand there. She told me to make sure that every move i make has a motivation. good luck!

re: Shows you just don't 'get' Jan 29

so refreshing to see the confusion amoung the show 'mamma mia'- winnipeg loved it, i hated it. TO loved it...i HATED it. mamma mia is just a show that i 'don't get'- unless i'm a 50-something year old who enjoyed ABBA as a teen.

re: Review: Phantom National Tour, Winnipeg MB (10/13/06) Oct 14
2006, 12:39:39 PM
thank you so much for this review! i was so pleasantly surprised to see winnipeg on this message board. i will be seeing this at the concert hall on oct. 21- and i definitely trust the reviews posted on here more than the reviews i have read in the papers in winnipeg. I was so dissapointed about the synth though- of all shows, i was hoping phantom wouldn't dissapoint with its orchestra

lotr dancing? Mar 31
2006, 01:23:57 PM
i'm writing a review for a class and was just wondering if anyone remembers any dancing besides the hobbits? I know there isn't much in it but for some reason i recall the orcs doing a small combo- maybe it was just stuntwork though...anyone?

i agree with frontrow, we were on the balcony and as far as we were, we caught everything and could see everything perfectly fine. you don't want to be too close for this show.

re: Asain Guy Charecter on Broadway? Mar 27
2006, 01:36:27 AM
one character i can think of in mamma mia is USUALLY asian (at least in canadian tours), uhm...the character role with the small part although he does share a song with one of the leading ladies. I'm completely forgetting names here...its a hispanic sounding name...shoot...anyone recall?

re: Weirdest Show You've Ever Seen Mar 25
2006, 11:31:27 AM
obviously rocky horror show. It was part of the season in this theatre whose demographic is seniors. It was just so strange for them to decide THAT show. I mean, the year before they did that the annual musical was 'guys and dolls' and before that it was 'my fair lady'...

awesome job on the review. I think most people on this board-myself included-felt the same way.

re: Movie that would make great musical adaptation Mar 15

i saw a highschool put on a stage play of the breakfast club- i'm not sure if it was their own or if they got rights to it. Either way, it wasn't too bad! 'the witches' is a good one- i totally agree with that (it IS based on a book but who cares!)

Annie CD Mar 10

what i noticed here is probably because of how jet-lagged my boyfriend and i were: we were a long flight home and were trying to catch some z's while listening to some broadway. During aida's 'written in the stars' at the 'a lifetime of not knowing'line, it sounds like a slur/fart. 'of not' sounds like its going 'of-pfft-not' well....we thought it was pretty damn funny. After a few playbacks we got over it :P
