THE GREAT GATSBY @ Paper Mill Playhouse Thread
 Oct 17 2023, 02:49:29 AM

I was there on Friday night. I am glad that I saw it. I agree that the sets are absolutely incredible, and Jeremy Jordan, Eva Noblezada, and Samantha Pauly completely blew me away! But the songs aren't memorable and nothing really knocked me off my feet at this performance (and I know I am very easy to please). I wasn't bored; it was a decent night in the theatre, but I also have tickets to the closing performance and I am wondering if I even want to go. I was underwhelmed.

Do they let people in the theatre to shop merch without a ticket? I've already seen it and I am not sure when/if I'll go back, but I'll be in the city.

Or if they sell it at Shubert Alley or Theatre Circle?

I actually won the lottery for his last show on Sunday night! I loved his King George. He was very silly and I thought he was a ton of fun. After the show, they presented him with flowers and they all hugged him.

I just got home from seeing it.

It started 10-15 minutes late and apparently rush tickets were available for half the day today, but by the time we started, the theatre was packed.

I loved the set and costumes. So colorful, so much fun.

I really, really, really enjoyed the show! I didn't know what it was even about going in (aside from the actual title), but it was so much fun! Minor

I saw the Katrina Lenk revival and it was amazing! It's the only version I have ever seen live, but I thought it was absolutely incredible - 15/10. If you have the chance to see the tour, I hope you get to go! I'm going out of my way to make sure I see the tour when it comes near (four hours away) me next year.

I can only speak to when it was done at Parade, but I thought it was absolutely brilliant.

St. James Theater Balcony

I remember sitting there twice for Into the Woods and refusing to sit there again. Coincidentally, it was also the first time someone seated next to me fell asleep. I felt like I was in a watchtower rather than a theatre. For Spamalot, I got mezz.

But I still adored Into the Woods both times, so I would prefer center Row A balcony (that's where I sat, can't speak to the rest of it) to not seeing the show at all.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS musical returning as immersive experience in the UK

(originally the preshow happened throughout the half hour, but was cut down to mere minutes for overtime reasons I believe)

The more immersive aspect of the original production that I remember was during the second (brief) intermission, when Orcs suddenly appeared in various places th

I thought she was wonderful as the Baker's Wife. I actually enjoyed her performance more than Stephanie J. Block's.

For what my opinion is worth - which is not much, I am not Filipino - one thing that struck me was how perfectly Arielle went from portraying a young, bright-eyed Imelda to an absolutely evil dictator by the end. It was a slow but steady change throughout the musical and I thought she did a wonderful job - it struck me in the moment on the dance floor how strong her impression was.

When you go to the floor, you pass by bag check. You can bring your phone to the dance floor and you can bring anything you would wear - so a cross body bag, or I heard them saying that if you had a coat and kept it on the whole time, you could bring that too. But anything not physically attached to your body has to be checked. They have slap bracelets with numbers and that's your "tag" to get your stuff later. It took maybe five minutes for me to get my purse back after the sho
