the funny thing is that it is moving right next door to THE GAY NAKED PLAY, which is a play that makes fun of Naked Boys Singing.

i saw the producer tryout about a year ago at the signature theater in midtown. the music is very good but the book needed a lot of work. hopefully it'll be fixed by the opening!
the thing i remember the most about the show was the star, Eden Espinoza. She has got the most AMAZING voice. She's currently the understudy for Idina Menzel in Wicked, but as soon as she opens in Brooklyn, she is gonna be a MAJOR star.

well isn't the whole musical a whose-got-the-bigger-package-Curley?-or-Judd?-competition?

it's very interesting: they're playing it like a straight play.... rather than a comedy. none of the punchlines are hitting. those dry british folk.
(hugh jackman's voice is amazing!)

you guys have GOT to see BERNADETTE AND THE BUTCHER OF BROADWAY.
it's a play about this very subject. It's about the rivalry that existed between Michael Riedel and Ben Brantley (from the times) concerning the production of Gypsy starring Bernadette.
I saw it and it was HYSTERICAL!
It got great reviews and was just extended again. it's playing Wednesdays in November at the Duplex.

the clip appeared at the end of the show. susan haskins announced it (in a tone indicating that she really liked the show). they showed about 3 minutes from the THEATER CHATTER scene that is a spoof of THEATER TALK ("My co-host susan haskins is dead.... she's just dead") haha!!
I hear that Bernadette and The Butcher Of Broadway has extended again. It's gonna be playing Wed nights at the Duplex in November.

Michael Riedel, Bernadette and Theater Talk on PBS Oct 19

Did anyone see that they played a scene from "Bernadette And The Butcher Of Broadway" at the end of Friday night's Theater Talk on PBS? I'm suprised that Michael Riedel allowed that, seeing as how the play tore him to shreds.

I was waiting tables at west bank cafe when Donna Murphy was interviewed last week. It wasn't even liz smith interviewing her. It was some middle aged man with a tablet.

there's a show over at the Duplex in the West Village about how Michael Riedel from the NY Post trashed Bernadette Peters in Gypsy. I hear it's supposed to be really funny. Has anyone seen it yet?
