In the Vulture article, Ives talked talked about his responsibility to produce it as someday a 'Frankenstein' version will appear. Since seeing it, I've played around with the 'sensible' of including Silly P

@neilrklein
Tonight I got to sit in on the last dress rehearsal of Here We Are (tech tables still out!!) one of the biggest honors of my life in NYC thus far. SO - Whatever you’re expecting, it’s not that - Rachel Bay Jones you are a REVELATION - It’s all for art, the rest is just noise <3
I won’t say more :) EXCEPT I hope the subtle reference to The Frogs was on purpose and just. Ahhh. Thank you Mr. Sondheim and everyone on this production. “We gotta be the luckiest people who ever lived” <333 I am happily revisiting this thread. What was The frogs reference? I think I missed it or it was cut!
Thanks

But it is not as fully realized as Act 1--and I don't mean the absence of songs, which I think is spot on! And as a great movie adaptation, loose but still evoking the joy, brilliance and essence of the source, light years away from Act 1's deli

Well he only had one other show after PASSION, and that was BOUNCE/ROAD SHOW -- so not a wide body of work to choose from.
"
How about the 7 songs he wrote for the Frogs revival?
Travel, All aboard, Ariadne & Shaw are all great.

Just a thought, is they're any similarities between Nurse Apple's speech and the interludes?
Thanks

Im sure at somepont SJS said it would be a one act musical?
Do the two acts fit together?
In light of everything that did and did not happen I can’t help but think it would be stronger condensing the second half into a shorter section and making it a one act show.

Interesting piece of information but do you know the date of it?
SJS said in september 2021 (on Colbert ) that they are working on Square One and they have just had a successful reading. He died December 21.
We know he was slow writer and we know the first act was completed, pre covid. I am hoping during covid they wrote a lot more of it and between the reading and his death he finished it - fingers crossed!
