Let's write a musical based on a story in the Weekly World News!
re: show bloopers

Several years ago, I saw the tour of Flower Drum Song. I don't remember exactly what happened but two of the characters were talking and someone had a line about "You aren't going to get your fortune cookies." It's a funny line in the context of the show, and the actors looked at each other and absolutely lost it. They could not stop cracking up and everytime they started to calm themselves down, they'd turn and look at each other and started laughing again. This went on for literally a few minu
re: General Admission?

I've thought about this before, and I don't think that general admission seating would work for popular Broadway musicals because it would be insane. People could get way to pushy and intense about trying to get good seats.

I love it in smaller theatres, and I like the concept, but I don't think it could work on Broadway.

re: Favorite Broadway 'pre-set'

I really like Spelling Bee's pre-set. I know it might not be the most exciting, but it really set the scene well. I saw it on tour, and there was a poster hanging in the lobby that is actually in one of my class rooms, which I thought was really funny.
I know it's technically off-Broadway, but I have to say I really liked Altar Boyz, just because, once again, it really did make you feel like you were at a concert.
Also, if we're allowing Wicked, I'd say that too, just because it's cool a

I guess I'm a hardcore Bee fan, then because that's SO COOL!
I told my parents I needed to go for the last performance, but they didn't understand why...ah well. :)

That is so cool! Thank you so much for sharing! :)
Sorry if I sound stupid, but was this like an improv thing or was it all scripted?

re: Small Moments You Were Lucky to Experience at the Theater From the '06-
 Jun 18 2007, 01:29:37 PM
1. When the curtain went up on the very first big dance number in Curtains. I just got chills, it was all so big and exciting and happy...
2. DHP singing "Coffee Shop Nights" in Curtains. I love that song, loved his performance.
I know it didn't actually open this year, but I finally got to see Spelling Bee, and I have too many moments to write up here, but I'll try to narrow it down...
3. When my dad was a guest speller and he spelled lysergic acid diethylamide correctly!
4. The

I'm so sorry to hear you lost your dad, Testing, and I'm sorry your dad is having health problems, Phantom.
I just thought I'd contribute to the conversation by adding that my dad got me into theatre, too! As a matter of fact, one of my earliest memories is him playing The Most Happy Fella OBCR for me. He took (and still takes) me to a lot of shows, and I am so grateful that he introduced me to something that has become one of my greatest passions and joys in life.
Happy Father's Day to

This looks great! I'm so excited for this movie, it looks like they did a really good job with making it a different experience from the stage version while not straying too far from it...
re: Who's your favorite character from Curtains?

Carmen is hilarious, but I really like Frank and Niki...
Oh, and the director (Christopher Belling)

re: SA 9 year old?
 Jun 15 2007, 07:59:23 PM
I don't know if you would want to take a 9-year-old to the show. There's a simulated sex scene, simulated masturbation, and partial nudity...I saw Rent when I was pretty young, but I don't think I could've handled Spring Awakening at the same age.

re: Future Legends
 Jun 15 2007, 07:53:29 PM
Well, theatredude, don't forget that we're talking about people who may become legends, not people who already are, so there's no telling what work someone may do in the future...
I would guess for future legends:
Sutton Foster
Kristen Chenowith
Norbert Leo Butz
maybe Idina Menzel
maybe Kerry Butler?

re: Cloris Leachman Challenges Mel Brooks to a fight to win role (NO JOKE)

That's hilarious! I would pay good money to see that fight!
re: Who is the Current 1st Lady of the American Musical?
 Jun 15 2007, 02:21:47 PM
I agree that Sutton Foster could be the next leading lady...She's really talented and keeps doing a fabulous job in lead roles. I think if she continues to work and continues doing a great job, she could be next.

It would hardly be brilliant, but Clueless could make a really cute musical...
