Vanessa Redgrave's 'Driving Miss Daisy' absence
 Nov 12 2010, 01:11:48 PM
It's Friday, Nov. 12 now, and the Telecharge page has removed the statement about Ms. Redgrave missing Thursday's show.

There is no statement saying she'll miss the performance on Friday, Nov. 12 at this time.

Let's hope this means good news, but it's still early in the day.

Thanks, orangeskittles, for your helpful response.

Would you, oh wise searcher, please point me to a few of those relevant threads to which you refer?

To everyone else: Thanks for your insight!

How much do Broadway performers get paid?

This inquiring mind wants to know...

How much does a Broadway performer get paid?

Are they paid by performance? Weekly? Monthly?

How wide is the salary gap between the megastars like Patti LuPone and a swing or ensemble member?

If anyone knows specifics for a particular show (past or present), that'd be interesting too, I think.

Forgive me if this question is...
(a) a faux pas to ask in the BroadwayWorld community.
(b) something that

re: I don't get it, a question about discount codes V buying at full price

Yeah, dancingthrulife has it right.

Most discount codes, whether they mention this in the fine print or not, don't apply to the first half-dozen or so rows of seats in the Center Orchestra.

This varies, of course, but don't expect to get a front-row center seat for half price.

A Chorus Line, Passion, and Two Gentleman of Verona are the only three Tony winners that are only one act.

re: What Bway Shows Play on Sunday Evenings?

That Playbill link is helpful, but keep in mind that it's only for shows this week. Shows change their schedules frequently.

For example, "Shrek" is listed as not playing on Sunday nights, but I've got tickets to a Sunday evening performance of it in September.

The only surefire way is to check each show's schedule individually for the Sunday you are planning to go.

You guys are quick with the responses! One of the many things that makes this board rock.

As for the show's closing, that's unfortunate that we'll miss it. I'll have to catch it on tour when it comes to my hometown of Dallas.

My choices for the Labor Day weekend trip are slowly shrinking.

If August 23rd is the last performance, what will happen to my tickets for Sept. 5?

Saw Annaleigh Ashford in "Wicked" hit herself in the head when twirling the wand. It looked pretty hard, but she just said "I'm OK, I'm OK" and kept going.

"Maybe you didn't see that the package is FREE."

Wrong. It's a "premium add-on" to get the things that JohnMs mentioned. That ain't free.

I had to go look for myself, and JohnMs2 is right... Wow.

"In addition to the Birthday package, we have many other premium add-ons available if you’d like to customize your party and give your child an experience they will never forget. You can have your child’s name mentioned in the show, have the cast sing “Happy Birthday” to him or her, get personalized merchandise and even give your child his or her Broadway debut with a walk-on appearance in the show!"

Wow. You really don't have any concept of kindness, do you? Is this a place to attack one another or share interests and get questions answered?

Wait, then why did you respond? For people who care what you say about them? Just sayin'...

Saw it Saturday night (Oct. 4) and Bono was in the audience. He was sitting in the left orchestra, and I was center orchestra front row. It's cool to say you had better seats than a music legend.

Anyway, I loved it. I thought Missi Pyle was powerfully confident as Gretchen. She looked very comfortable in this role, and her accent was impressive.

And of course Mark Rylance was amazing. We waited for him at the stage door (all but Gina Gershon came out), and he had on a bike helm
