re: A woman playing Hedwig?
 Feb 11 2008, 08:20:54 AM
I saw all the actors who played Hedwig down at the Jane St Theatre, and I love them all for their own individual takes on the role. Leaving JCM out of the mix, obviously, he IS Hedwig, but I pretty much liked them all but Ally Sheedy. I gave her a fair shake of seeing her 3 times over her run, and that was 2 times to many.... she progressively got worse each time I saw her. My favorites where Cahoon and Matt McGrath. Asa Somers would have been a great Hedwig, too, if he got a chance to play

Joel Grey trying to hail a cab on the corner of Jane St & Westside Highway.

He wasn't aware I was sitting on the front steps on a building behind him, so to casually get his attention I started singing "Mr. Cellophane" to him.... just then a cab pulled up, and he turned around to me and gave me a big smile and waved, and then got in the cab. I was happy as a clam!!

re: Wicked Lottery

Just as a follow up... I did win tickets in the Hairspray lottery this Wednesday matinee. It was no problem... there were about 15 people and we all got in. I was smack dab in the center of the first row... a tad bit TOO close to the stage, but hey, for $25... what the heck.

Hairspray was a fun day, very enjoyable... nothing great, but I had fun, and the cast was energetic.

Wicked Lottery

I'm coming into town next Wednesday, and wanted to try some of the lotteries...

Anything on how the Wicked Lotteries have been lately? How early should I get there? etc.

Yes, call me a Hed-Head as well. I was one of them who went many, many, many times to see JCM's most wonderful play.
I've seen everyone who played Hedwig down at the Jane St Theatre. JCM was the master of all, but my personal favorite was Kevin Cahoon, then Matt McGrath, Michael Cerveris, and yes, even Asa Somers. Poor man, only got to go on about five times, but he had it down from the get go.

Bring back Hedwig live to NYC I say!!

Call me a traditionalist... but I prefer to watch the Hedwig movie just as it is. Leave the shadow-casting to the Rocky Horror people... Hedwig is not Rocky Horror.

But, good luck on your endeavor anyways.

I'll stay home and watch my DVD.

Sorry to be such a downer.....
