ok...it was originated in the "john lithgow vs. christina applegate" thread.
Um, I have to choose? Neither. I prefer legit trained musical theatre performers.
i couldnt help but comparing brooke's "wonderful town" to christina's "sweet charity" becuz they both were in the same theatre....i think brooke won...and so did "wonderful town" i did like "SC" but it felt low budget next to "WT". and brooke would have been nominated or won the Tony if she would have opened the show.
I wasn't a big fan of either until I saw them on stage. I respect them both and think they're great.
Both come from other entertainment avenues. Both profess having had a great longing to do stage work. Christina is a trained dancer (whether you like her or not) and I don't know if Brooke is.
However, Brooke is a bit farther along in her theater career. Since this is Christina's first show, we'll really have to wait a bit to compare her career to Brooke's. She needs at least one more show before we can compare "careers".
I'm not sure how young Brooke was when she started studying dance, but I saw her there every weekend at Broadway Dance sweating it out with the rest of the Broadway wannabees . . .
i agree justme2...brooke has been in 3 broadway shows plus chicago in england.

Brooke, hands down. I couldn't stand Christina. Although Brooke is no Carolee Carmello or Donna Murphy, she can hold her own on a stage.
Brooke gave an utterly fantastic performance in Wonderful Town and I cannot wait to see her in Chicago. She was hysterical, and dealt with her dancing & singing very very well. I didnt get to see Murphy as Ruth (I had an understudy) but Brooke was shockingly wonderful in the role.
I love Christina. She defied all odds and turned in a funny, adorable, endearing, entertaining, and great performance as Charity. She was much better than I ever would have imagined so, I'd have to give my vote to Christina just because I thought she would totally suck but she was excellent.
I haven't seen Brooke in any show, so I guess it makes my vote a little invalid, but I really have to say that Christina's acting, dancing and even singing really blew me away. She was the whole package - everything about her performance WAS Charity Hope Valentine. She had me hysterically laughing and bawling at the end of the show. I enjoyed her performance immensely, and I truly think she has done a wonderful job in the role.
hey...if u havent seen brooke...u cant really say that 1 is better than the other.
^ She never said one is better than the other.
I think Christina is a better singer. Both have great acting skills. And both can dance.
they both really can't sing in my point of view. but brooke sings way better than christina to me.
They both can carry a tune. Brooke has a very very stiff singing voice, but her singing was pefect when I saw her in WT. Christina can do a little more with her voice, and plus Christina's mother is a professional singer, and had Christina in singing lessons since she was little.
yeah...idina menzel is def a better singer...than any of these 2.
Idina is a screamer not singer lets et it right....
Christina hands down, she sings and dances great and can act too....but what she has the Brooke lacks is personality... Christina energy sky rockets every ngiht and that is why she is better then Brooke in my oppion
Saw them both, liked them both. Brooke was MUCH better in "Wonderful Town" than the only other time I saw her (In Grease)......
did u see brooke is cabaret? i heard mixed reviews of her...but i couldnt make it to nyc when she was in it.
