I'm wondering if anyone has the demo CD put out to promote "Reefer Madness: The Movie Musical." I'm a huge fan of the movie and the CD is rare, and when found, very expensive. If so, PM me, please!!

Reefer Madness was origionally a musical in LA and then off broadway before it was a movie. There is only an LA recording of the show, available through Amazon.com. Beware the show has changed and improved since then so there are some songs that are in the movie and off broadway that are not on the cd and vice versa. Yet, I love my cd and its totally worth it.
also check out the show's website at reefermadness.org
Wasn't Reefer Madness a 1930's movie before it was a musical?

Yes. Its the source material for the musical. That movie is not a musical though. And the musical also saterizes that movie somewhat.

Yes, I have the Original L.A. Cast Recording and I love it, too, but I honestly like the movie performances, with the exception of Robert Torti not playing both Jesus AND Jack, much better.
Does ANYONE have it?

I don't know about a demo CD. What i do know is there are certain questionable avenues on the internet that can get you the full soundtrack. It's not a studio recording, the songs are all recorded off the movie. But they're good quality, and it's well worth it to have Reefer in the car.
Showtime made CDs of their recent television musical for the press. Not for the public. Not demo.

Hm. I thought I saw one of the movie soundtracks somewhere. I think it was Ebay and it was rather cheap. although it didnt have any cover art so it might be "b***l**"

I made Audio Rips, but I'd prefer to have like an actual CD...

According to the official website, there are no plans to make a recording from the film. Anything you find on the internet is most likely illegal.
Promo and Demos are two different things. In this case, I think you mean Promo.
My partner and I are in talks with a label to release the soundtrack of the Showtime version. Don't know if/when that will happen.
The promo CD being spoken of is indeed a press-related item, with cuts in the material (mostly interspersed dialogue cuts). It has artwork with a big marijuana leaf and the Showtime logo. It came in the press kit, in a cigar box, along with a couple of DVD's, a mousepad with a picture of the cast, a brownie and other munchies. It was not for public sale.
The CD is not mixed for stereo; it is simply the movie mix with the aforementioned cuts (which, of course, sounds weird outside of a Dolby 5.1 mix).
Anyway, we're working on getting a deal together -- these things aren't always easy, so please be patient. Doesn't help it if there are bootlegged copies being sold online, though.
