Same sh*t, different year.
It's only a date, people. Make it into something symbolically all-encompassing if you like, but it's nothing more than a change of date. No different than today into tomorrow will be.

Posted: 1/1/07 at 2:13pmWell, while the change of date is arbitrary, sometimes it takes something like that to make us reexamine the lives we lead, which can lead to changes (if one desires change, that is). Birthdays and New Years tend to make me take stock in the direction I've been heading. May we all be the best people we can be in 2007 and I hope that 2007 is awesome for those who want it to be awesome and that it sucks for those who want it to suck.

Did you read my post (the one you are obviously responding to), Kringas, or did you just (once again) feel the need to be pompous, and therefore skip the line about making it symbolic if you want it to be?

Well, at least THAT wasn't pompous, Kringas!
Maybe in 2007 you'll give it a rest. And, one can only hope, think for yourself every so often.

I concur Kringas.
I know the date is 100% arbitrary, but it allows me to wrap portions of my life into neat little packages. It's as if I can put the past in the past and finally set any baggage that has accumulated over the last 12 months free. It's also a really great opportunity to look back on who I was one year ago, where I was one year ago, and the journey that I've taken to get to the place I am today. It also gives me the chance to reflect on where I will be in one year if I continue on the same path, and what I need to change over the next 365 days if I would rather see my life move in a different direction.
The new year is always a breath of fresh air.

That made me laugh.
For one, I think Kringas is one of the most original and self-assured posters on this board.
Secondly, coming from Little Miss Coattails, that statement is hilarious.
So how did YOU ring in the New Year, Rath?
