I really just need reassurance here. My husband and I are coming in to NYC for a wedding on 6/28. The wedding starts at 5:30 PM and is in the Jefferson Market Garden down in the Village. DH is not a huge Broadway fan, but he does like the sound of "39 Steps" (his all-time favorite show was "The Mystery of Irma Vep.") We're thinking of trying to get tickets for the matinee at 2 PM. It looks like we would get out of the show at about 3:45. That should give us plenty of time to get to the wedding, right? What would be the fastest subway route from the Cort (at 48th) down to the wedding (6th Ave & 10th St)? Take the train down to West 4th?
Thanks!
www.hopstop.com is a great website to figure out how to get from point A to point B in NYC and elsewhere. Because I couldn't find an exact address for Jeffrerson Market Garden, I used the address for the library by it.
Cort Theatre: 138 W 48th St
JMG/Jeffrerson Library: 425 Avenue of the Americas
Hopstop also gives an estimate for the cost of a taxi. If you're worried about having to walk too far (since you're going to a wedding - I don't know how fancy it's going to be), it might be just as easy to flag a taxi. And it only estimates a taxi to be about $8.
Many thanks! I will be a bit dressed up but am planning to wear comfortable shoes
Sounds like a plan!
Yeah, it's not too far to have to go, in the amount of time you have. But if this is one of your first times in NYC, I would probably go with a taxi. It's fairly inexpensive, and if you're in the theatre district, they're (taxis) everywhere!
Thanks--definitely not one of my first times in the city--but I think taxi may be a very good idea, especially if it's a million degrees out--don't want to get to the wedding all hot and disheveled!
I saw the show last week, and it is around 2 hours long including intermission. You should have plenty of time.
If you wanna take the subway, take the B, D, F, or V from Rockefeller Center down to West 4th St. and walk north on 6th Ave. There's a station close to the Cort.
