#0UW Menopausal Symptom Study Seeking Participants

Are you a mid-life woman experiencing frequent hot flashes?

The University of Washington School of Nursing is doing a research study (internet survey) to find out about women's hot flashes, other symptoms, feelings, and attitudes in the pre- and post-menopause period. This research is being conducted by Dr. Cathryn Booth-LaForce, Professor, School of Nursing , University of Washington. We will ask you to complete a 45~60-minute confidential on-line survey.

You are invited to participate if :
-You are a woman between the ages of 45 and 60
-You are in late peri-menopause (i.e., two or more skipped periods and no menstruation in the past 60 days) or post-menopause
-You are having frequent hot flashes
-You haven't had your uterus or ovaries surgically removed
-You haven't taken replacement hormones (estrogen, progestin) for at least 3 months
-You are not taking anti-depressant medication, birth control pills, tamoxifen, raloxifene, bellergal, gabapentin, or clonidine
-You have access to a computer from which you can connect to the internet

Compensation: Participants will be given a gift certificate worth $25 at Barnes & Noble, Victoria's Secret, or Amazon.com for their time and effort.
