I was home from work one day last October and flipping through the channels when I came upon this show that had a witch named Tabitha who has a daughter named Endora and I have been hooked ever since. Since I have been watching, they've had a Bollywood production number, a mysterious monk, a mermaid and many other crazy things. I love it. And they have Juliet Mills (former Tony nominee and the star of the old TV series, "Nanny and The Professor" and sister of Hayley Mills and wife of Max Caufield). Also there are a lot of scantily clad men who almost always seem to be walking around shirtless with their pants below the hip. Anyone else here watch this show?

"Ending speculation about the soap's future, NBC has announced that Passions has been renewed for another season. The show will now air through at least July of 2007.
"Passions continues to attract a loyal fan base as well as a youthful audience that appreciates its wildly inventive story lines," said NBC Entertainment president Kevin Reilly in a statement. "We are glad to continue our creative relationship with the show as a reflection of our commitment to daytime programming."
Fans have been on a rollercoaster ride for some time as the show's ratings have dipped to heart-stopping lows only to rebound to "normal" levels a few weeks later. In the most recent ratings made available to the media, Passions ranked last of the nine soaps with a 1.5 rating (1.65 million viewers)....".

Los hombres Latinos son muy guapo.
I went through a Passion addiction 4 years ago. It takes months to stop. You realize how stupid it is, yet you can't get enough of it. Until you realize how goddamn slow the thing is, and at one point one day on the show took 2 months in episodes.

Galen Gering...yum.
I watched it when it first came on, until a little bit after Josh Evans died. If I'm home and remember it's on, I check it out to see what the citizens of Harmony are up to. Not much has changed.

Martin is such a daddy. That hairy chest. That deep and gravelly voice.
I still have the first 6 months (give or take a month) on vhs!

It does repeat a lot of the same things such as "Gwen and Rebecca are the ones who sent the information about your true paternity to the tabloids" but I am so addicted to it. I DVR it so I can skip over the parts that are slow. I love Tabitha and Siren the Mermaid.
They do some funny stuff on this show. When "Fox" was replaced with a new actor, there was a scene where the doorbell rang and while Tabitha went to answer it, a voice came on that said, "The role of Fox is now being played by....". Tabitha looked all around looking for the voice and the voice scolded her by telling her to "Open the door!". Recently, while she was talking about Kay and Siren fighting over the barely clothed Miguel, Tabitha said "Who could blame them. I haven't seen a man that hot since the premiere of Grease 2". In real life Juliet Mills (Tabitha) is married to Max Caufield the star of "Grease 2".
My sister-in-law watchest this show. Incessantly! Last time I visited (she and my brother live on the opposite coast), she had a PASSIONS marathon. She DVRs the episodes and then has one day where she watches them non-stop. I nearly about died! I, for one, can't stand soap operas. They're all so negative. People backstabbing and plotting against each other. And the pace is too slow for me. But I have to admit that PASSIONS can be quite humorous. I don't think it takes itself seriously, unlike the others. It pokes fun at itself and the genre and I have to admire it for that.

I'm pretty sure I read where Juliet Mills said that "Passions" is a satire of soap operas and that they often play it way over the top.

Great episode today. The mysterious monk was finally revealed! Before the big reveal he was hamming it up as a disfigured "Phantom of the Opera" monk. It was a very funny episode. Since I am a fairly new fan, I never knew that Luis and Sheridan had been doomed lovers in past lives, with one prior relationship that ended badly---they were on the Titanic!
I tuned in today since I was off and can honestly say this is the first time since I stopped watching that I was completely confused as to what was going on, after not seeing it for a while. Other times I had no problem following along. Alister is Beth's father? Where's Sheridan? How did Kay get amnesia? Ethan is little Ethan's father? A mermaid?
The song to the tune of Edelweiss was funny. Norma always did amuse me.

1). Tabitha's daughter zapped the mermaid out of the "Little Mermaid" book a few months ago. She is there to occupy Miguel so that Kay stays engaged to Fox. (Miguel was away for a few years and he is the father of Kay's daughter. He returned to Harmony very shortly after Kay became engaged to Fox.
2). Sheridan is still around but the story has been focused on the Da Vinci Code parody that is just wrapping up. Most of the cast is in Italy including Norma and her partner who ended up there when they were on the run after trying to kill Tabitha last Christmas. Today they were singing some funny songs in the Lesbian bar in Rome ("My Man" and "Edelweiss" tunes with new words. "Edelweiss" became "Lesbians" and "My Man" became "My Axe"). A few weeks ago the "Pope" even made an appearance on the show. Anyway, Sheridan got married earlier this year and she and her new husband went to look for Marty (her son with Luis). Luis was thought to be dead so she figured it would be a good thing to marry someone else. Of course, Luis was not dead and when he came out of his coma, Sheridan "married" him in the hospital, with her new husband acting as best man. After many weeks, she finally told Luis that she was married to someone else and now loved her new husband. She is now pregnant and when she was on last week, she was telling Luis that he is the one she really loves after all.
3). Kay got amnesia the other day when she was electrocuted by the washing machine at Tabitha's. She doesn't remember she is engaged to Fox so she is carrying on with Miguel because the doctor said that it would be bad for her health if she was told the truth. Meanwhile, the mermaid (Siren) is not happy that Kay is with Miguel so she is trying to seduce Fox. Whoever makes love to her will never be able to make love to another woman again ("the mermaid's curse").
4). Today is the first time we heard about Ethan being Little Ethan's father.
5) Beth is the result of a hot passionate night between Alistar and Mrs. Wallace. They had a very funny flashback a few weeks ago that showed how it came about.
I've only been watching since last Fall but I think that, most days, it is very funny. It's got Witches (an old one "Tabitha" and her daughter "Endora"), a Mermaid, songs. They did a full Bollywood number earlier this year. Last Christmas, Norma did an act in full Baby Jane attire and sang a song to her "daddy" which happened to be a skull she carried around with her. I read that a few years ago Norma and Mrs. Wallace did a parody of "Cell Block Tango" that I am sorry I missed! They also had "Hanna Nicola Smythe" (who gave Theresa advice about how to benefit from marrying a man- Alistar- several decades older than herself, Lesbians (there is an out Lesbian character). Julia Duffy ("Newhart" and "Designing Women") guested as a nun last year. Marla Gibbs (Florence from "The Jeffersons" was on earlier this year.
I just found out this the actress who plays "Mrs. Wallace", Kathleen Noone, used to be Ellen Dalton on "All My Children" a role that earned her an Emmy in 1987. She also played Claudia on "Knots Landing". I thought she looked familiar.
I am not happy that they will pre-empt "Passions" on Thursday and Friday for "Wimbeldon".

im a mess with this show, not as much as i used to be, but still a mess. i even have the book that tabitha wrote.
I did know Miguel was the father of Kay's baby. He used to be played by the guy that played the gardener on Desperate Housewives. I happened to be tuned into Passions one of the days when Ivy was searching for Miguel to get him back to Harmony. She was doing a search for Miguel and looking at her laptop screen said something to the effect of, "It says here he was spotted on Wisteria Lane", which is the street DH takes place on. Made me chuckle.
Whatever happened to Miguel and Charity? That's who he really was hung up on.
I can't believe the Sheridan/Luis storyline is still going on after all this time. Did it turn out that Luis' brother (I forget his name) really died? I happen to catch it when Sheridan was with him, even though she wanted to be with Luis, but if he knew the truth, it would kill him. There was something wrong with him, but I can't remember what. I guess Sheridan and Luis are just destined to be star crossed lovers forever.
I would've liked to have seen the flashback that resulted in Beth. I was surprised when I saw her. Looks wise, she's such a ringer to be a Kay replacement.
I'm a long time AMC viewer and also had watched Knots Landing, so I knew Kathleen Noones' background. So she's now part of a couple with Norma? This boggles my mind. Norma was so determined to kill her and Tabitha once upon a time.
If I catch it today, I may be back with more questions. Thanks for the update!

Miguel was lured back to Harmony. Theresa was in charge of Crane Industries because Alistar was in a coma due to an attempt on his life at a New Year's Eve party (We found out last month that he wasn't really in a coma. It was someone else with a lycra Alistar mask. Alistar was disguised as a "Phantom of the Opera" monk trying to get the chalice that would make him "God on earth". Many, many funny episodes related to that.) Anyway, back to Miguel. Ivy wanted him back in Harmony with the hope that his return would break up Fox and Kay. She arranged for the Crane jet to bring him back for the ill-fated renewal of vows between Pilar and her husband (who was missing for years and living with one of Alistar's ex-wives who happened to be Sheridan's mother and is played by Leigh Taylor Young of "Can't Stop The Music" and was once married to Ryan O'Neal). Once Miguel was back in Harmony and saw Kay and their baby, he decided to give up on Charity and try to be a good dad (and maybe get Kay back) to the delight of Ivy and Tabitha.
Hope you get to see it today.
that whole luis whooping his dad's ass everytime he saw him thing got soooooo old after a while.
I've been watching Passions A LOT lately. It's so stupid but I couldn't help getting hooked. I just have to see what happens.

I use to be addicted to this show, because I use to flip and I saw this crazy show & I fell in love with it, because of Tabitha and for those who have watched the series since before 2000, Timmy. I loved them, they were the dynamic duo of the underworld of Harmony.
I'll never forget when Theresa was preganet and they had her "breath in" and "breath out" and she hunched over and then it turned into a musical number between Gwen & Ethan and Theresa singing the Passions theme song.

I'd love to see that musical number!

I wish I could find it also, it was hysterical.
Simone is a lesbian? When did she come out? What is Fancy hanging with Luis for? I thought she was with Noah.

I missed the episode today. Can anyone tell me what happened?

She came out a while ago. She went to see her Aunt (Marla Gibbs from "The Jeffersons") and her Aunt told her about all the struggles she had as a black woman and told Simone she was lucky that she did not have to go through such struggles. Simone said that she kind of did because she was a lesbian. The Aunt replied in full Florence voice, "You're a what?". Then she threw her out yelling something like, "What do you expect? Your mother (or was it sister?) was a whore and now you are a damn lesbian."
Fancy was with Noah but he wouldn't tell her about his ex, Maya for fear Fancy would be killed. Maya's boss tried to have Fancy killed by having a car drive through the place they were having lunch (Fancy got to wear a nice diamond studded eye patch and said all she needed was a parrot on her shoulder). Anyway, she is falling for Luis as he was protecting her from Beth who was trying to kill her because Beth wrongly believed that Luis had fallen for another blonde, Fancy. He only has eyes, so far, for Sheridan.
I saw the first week of repeats earlier this year on the Sci-Fi Channel. I couldn't believe that Sheridan was best friends with Princess Diana! The story began with Sheridan waiting to meet her friend Diana only to find out that she had been killed in a car accident.
