ATTENTION NEW YORKERS!: Call 518-455-3171 and say "I am calling to register my support for the marriage equality bill." seriously, it takes less than 10 seconds, you say that line as scripted, they ask for your zip code, you say thank you, and hang up. DO IT RIGHT NOW!

I no longer live in New York but most of my facebook friends do, and I (and others) are flooding their mini feeds with the request to call today.

For all of you who believe that this does not matter, consider yourselves lucky that you are in a state that is even considering this, and call, show your support.

So easy! The woman I spoke to was very friendly. As I started to give my zip code she (apparently) yawned and said "I'm so sorry! I was up till 12:30 last night doing this."

But she sounded happy to be doing it.

Fingers crossed folks. This is second hand information but apparently this will be brought to a vote tonight.


ETA: I copied what my friend wrote to me:

"Friend working at senate says vote tonight-- or tomorrow-- and will be last vote of year . thats the HOT rumor from albany !!!"

I cheated a bit and called and gave my cousin's (who lives in Manhattan) zip code! The guy who answered seemed to know exactly why I was calling. Took me 13 seconds. Literally.

I am very worried despite the fact it stands that the votes are there. It was allegedly there the last time and people, Democrats and moderate Republicans, chickened out. Plus State Senator Greg Ball, a Republican identified as one of the YEA votes was hanging out with the scum of the earth (and I can say this because he is my Assemblyman) Jim Tedisco at the Capitol and that is never a good association to have. Like seriously, they had a push-up contest on the Senate floor (link below). I just hope Betty Little votes YEA because she is one of the few Republicans and members of the State Senate in general that I can stand.
