How do you upload the music on your computer to someone elses iPod? Is it possible without erasing their existing stuff, or messing up yours?
i dont think you can.
You have to set your iPod to manually update songs. Hook it up to The owners computer first, click on options and choose Manually update.. this will also require that you manually eject the iPod but that's not a big deal. This prevents the syncing of the iPod and the library so you wont lose anything on either.

Yeah, you can, apple just doesnt want people to know you can.
You can actually authorize your ipod to work with up to 5 different computers. The only catch is you can't move between PC and Mac. So if your main computer is Mac, that's all you can connect with. Likewise, if your main computer is a PC.
Just set your iPod to manual mode. There will be prompts when you hook your ipod up to the new computer. It'll ask if you want it to be your main computer. Say no. It might ask if you want it to automatically update your ipod. Say no. Then go to the controls of your iPod (once it's recognized by the iTunes) in the lower right hand corner of iTunes and set your iPod to manual mode. Then you can drag and drop whatever songs from your friends library to your iPod that you want.

Great minds CJR..
How have you been??
Also they have to be similar "types" i accidently erased my friend's mini because I don't have mini software on my computer. That sucked for him, but oh well he got it all back lucky he had everyting saved on his computer.
That's weird Static.. I have hooked my sisters Nano up to my computer even though I have a 60GB video and 40GB regular that I use on the same computer.. It was probably set to auto sync which caused the deletion.
I don't know, everyone elses worked, they all had 20gig (this was pre video ipods) so they could've corrected that for newer models. But everyone else normally had auto synch, but mine is always set to manual and it didn't do anything to theirs, just the mini. It didn't erase it as much as every song on his ipod couldn't read anymore it would just skip to the next song so in essence they were deleted. Like i said it could just be a glitch with mini vs 20gig ipod non video. And not effect it anymore.

But make sure that your ipod has the latest software before you try it!

It could hace had corrupted files on it.. But either way it doesn't seem to be a problem anymore..

No idea, starletta. Think of it as a mini computer..... it's possible for anything that can happen to your computer to happen to your iPod.... (within reason, of course)
Cam -- Ive been running crazy lately between work and moving and looking for a new apartment.... I was supposed to move into a new place in the middle of May (I'm staying with my grandmother in the intrim, rather than resign my old lease) but the landlady decided she's going to renovate, rather than rent, so now I'm trying to find a new place. *gah!* the pressure!!! haha

The people at Apple said if you hook an iPod up to another computer, not it's normal one, that it erases all the music on it. (So people don't share music, I guess.)
Megg, like I said, I've have four different iPods hooked up to my laptop and it's never been a problem.. I just had a friends hooked up last night.
CJR~ sounds like oodles of fun.

Yeah, you can have up to five hooked up to one computer with no problem, but if someone has it hooked up to their computer already, and then you hook it into yours, it might screw it up.
Okay, so maybe I should have set its possible that it could screw up.
But I believe you, I've seen that before. My cousin has all his friends' iPods on his computer and he gives them music and they all share it. Maybe the people at Apple just said that so I wouldn't steal music from other people...
