Barack Obama does:

===

"You have a real choice in this election. Either Democrat would be better than John McCain," Obama said to cheers from a rowdy crowd in central Pennsylvania. Then he said: "And all three of us would be better than George Bush."

John McCain thinks John McCain is pretty nifty.

When I was in City Year, John McCain spoke at our annual convention (June 2001). He was really cool back then because he was a champion of National Service. However, City Year and AmeriCorps were both founded by Bill Clinton.......so the national service thing is not enough to sway me over to the McCain side.

Gosh PJ have you forgotten that Hillary Clinton PREFERS John McCain to Obama?

"Added: March 05, 2008
In her attempt to preserve her claim to the White House, Hillary Clinton shows a willingness to attack her fellow democrat at any cost."

Gosh Joe. Have you forgotten how much she was vilified for saying that?

AND NOW OBAMA DOES WORSE AND YOU ALL GIVE HIM A PASS.

Sheesh.

Hillary's response:

===

"Sen. Obama said today that John McCain would be better for the country than George Bush. Now, Sen. McCain is a real American patriot who has served our country with distinction, but Sen. McCain would follow the same failed policies that have been so wrong for our country the last seven years.

"Sen. McCain thinks it is okay to keep our troops in Iraq for the next 100 years. Is that better than George Bush?

Audience: No!

"Sen. McCain will continue the failed economic policies of George Bush that have brought us deficit and increasing debt. Is that better than George Bush?

Audience: No!

"Sen. McCain does not have a health care plan that will cover every American. In fact, we will have more and more uninsured Americans. Is that better than George Bush?

Audience: No!

"Sen. McCain has no plans to end the housing foreclosure crisis or cut the cost of gas at the pump. Is that better than George Bush?

Audience: No!

"We need a nominee who will take on John McCain, not cheer on John McCain, and I will be that nominee."

so the national service thing is not enough to sway me over to the McCain side

So, what wonderful thing keeps you faithful to your candidate?

You know what.....honestly I don't know. Because of City Year, for many years my "issue" was National Service and whichever candidate would support AmeriCorps. But now, I don't know. Guess I gotta do more research.

I just got used to the fact that we won't be stuck with "nucular" and "Amurca" anymore--must we put up with McCain's pinched, nasal, whiny, pasty-old-white-man voice for ANOTHER four to eight years?

I have a lot of respect for the man as a person. And I have a family friend who knows him, so if he gets elected my dad can get a better job in DC....

But I hate his politics, for the most part...

I don't agree with his stance on the Iraq War. I know that the whole "stay there 100 years" thing was sort of taken out of context, as he also said "That'd be fine with me as long as Americans are not being injured or harmed or wounded or killed." But I just don't see that working out.

I dislike the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy, which he appears to be in favor of. While he did vote against the Federal Marriage Amendment in favor of each state deciding on its own if it will recognize same-sex marriage, I would rather have a president who supports same-sex civil unions.

He apparently no longer supports Roe v. Wade, at least as of 2007. He also seems to be less supportive of gun control that he has been in the past, stating in 2007 that gun owners are the "core of modern America." I feel like these changes are more recent and were an attempt to get more Republican support. I'm sort of paranoid that he'll change other ideas to conform with Republican ideals.

I do, however, like his views on the environment, especially turning the EPA into Cabinet departments. He also is in favor of stem cell research.

...Okay, so he's way better than Bush. I'd just rather have a Democrat in the White House. I agree with them more on issues that are important to me, like Iraq, abortion, and gay marriage.
