So, I'm auditioning for Highschool musical in November (I'm really neurotic about auditions and I get prepared really early or I'll forget about it and put it off to the last minute) and I'm thinkning of going for the part of Sharpay... I have a fairly good range and I'm sixteen, does anyone have any suggestions for songs? also, if anyone is doing High School musical this year, or has seen the stage version of the script I would really appreciate it if you could tell me what the differences are between the stage version and the the movie version.
I hate to do this but I must, BUMP!
Seeing how Sharpay is a theater queen why don't you do some classic bratty broadway classic and over-do it. Ala; "Born To Entertain:" from Ruthless or "I Enjoy Bening a Girl" from the Flower-Drum Song. just a creative idea. Or even things from more recent pop musicals would work.
I saw the first ever stage version of High School Musical- at Stagedoor Manor. It is different from the movie, but not too diferent. There is an added song, and an added character (I think), but for the most part it's the same story. And actually, I liked the stage version much better then the movie (I hated the movie).
Anything that sounds happy/bubblegum is a go. I actually like the idea of "Popular" from Wicked for this.
"Roxie" - Chicago. It's a very look at me i'm going to be huge song.
"Diva's Lament" - Spamalot
I'm in a production right now. The book isn't different persay, just expanded more. There's a bigger emphasis on the power struggle between Sharpay and Ryan.

They're doing it where I live, but I'm not in it. Sing something sort of poppy. HSM is all pop music.

i didnt know it was made after a book & a play! Could anyone give me more information about them?
Maybe sing some ABBA, or sing zip-a-dee-doo-dah, maybe sing On Broadway simply because her character probably feels the same way as the lyrics in that song. That's all i can think of for now.
umm the stage version is diffrent in the fact that start of something new isnt the opening and there are more songs, im auditioning for it at my highschool in january and want ryan SOO bad, i know tag comuntiy theatre in mt.vernon is doing it and so is kirkland highschool were are you doing it?

Honestly, I don't know... I've never worked with this theatre group and I don't know anyone in the group.
Is this theatre company your trying out for possibly called 'Randolph' or 'Randolph Young Academy'?

It was a movie first. They just recently put the stage version together.
