I was wondering if you had any suggestions as to what audition song to use for a Full Monty audition. I'm a mezzo, comfortably belt to a C#/D, with a kind of "soulful" voice". For some reason I'm having some trouble thinking of songs! Thanks so much.

Advice from a former pro:
Have a repertoire of 6-8 songs of all differing types, and pick one or two to polish for the audition. If you try to learn a new song for every audition, you will drive yourself nuts.
Same thing with monologues-- 4-5 differing ones and go with one or two for each audition.
If you go after new material all the time, you won't really get to know a song or a scene. 'Know' as in being able to chart everything there is about it.
Only when you know a song, can you really examine other things to say with the piece.
Have fun.

Thank you for the wonderful advice. I went through my rep and tried to find something in a similar to style to the score of Full Monty, but the closest thing I have is "O Bless the Lord" from Godspell. I wasn't sure if that was an alright choice. Thanks again.
