And the second WWW stands for Widely Woven Web – and I find that thrilling! I stated a long time ago that my interest in this message board was mainly social. Yes, I DO love theatre, and other people who love it, as well. But this board was and is my only foray into the cyber-connection realm. I’ve been very excited to see how things unfold within the limited parameters of the medium.

WELL, what started to happen is that connections made here started to transfer into our ‘real’ lives, and slowly, a web of friendship has spread literally around the world (Hi Pop and Paradox BWW on the WWW is truly a WWW.) Today I get to solidify one of the strongest connections I’ve made here, and it warms my heart to further strengthen the bonds we all share.

While it can be frustrating at times to develop these connections and then be held back by the vast distances involved, it shows me that people can come together and find commonality through this forum – and that gives me some measure of hope for the future.

So here’s to the WWW of the BWW – may it continue to grow and expand our horizons, and may we always be thankful for the opportunity (Thanks Rob and crew!)

Wonderful post, DG!! I too have made some wonderful friendships and acquaintance-ships on this board - and since I had never joined a message board before, that was the last outcome I even thought of - and certainly never would have dreamed that one of the most loving and supportive friends in my life would be someone I've yet to meet, who lives on the other side of the world. The magic of BWW.

Lovely.

I marvel at the gift of some of the friendships in my life today which were born here.

And, to think it all started with a college boy's dream. re: BWW on the WWW is truly a WWW. (Or, perhaps, obsession?) I remain forever indebted to Rob!

Aww DG!

Yes, distance sucks for us, does it not?

But it is rather amazing the friendships we have formed, or at least that I have. But the ones I have are simply spectacular!

I agree, it's been wonderful to meet so many great new people through this site! Many people I have gone to see shows with or broadway events here in NYC (and Chicago), and others I hope to meet when I travel around the world. BWW is family :)

Great post!

I think about this a lot, given the copious amounts of time that I spend here. heh. In all seriousness, though, I can't help but marvel at the fantastic friendships that I've formed here, on this grand little thing that is the internet. They're wide-ranging, from people who I'd never, ever expect to befriend me and onward. I often have to try to explain to people how it is that I consider so many of you that I've not even met to be friends - but I think a lot of you understand. It blows my mind just how close you can become to someone you've never met - and someone who is such a far distance away.

And, in truth, not only have I formed some of my most treasured friendships on this board, but I have also learned so, so much. And that's kind of incredible.

Three cheers for BWW!

Yes they are, Shira Dahling. And I also love that A meets B, B meets C, and then A and C are able to have a little closer connection 'by association'.

Thanks for bringing this up, DG! It's so true and the connections just keep on growing.

Does this happen on other sites as well?

Yes! It's a wonderful place to find friends and feel comfortable.

Thanks to all of you who have restrained yourselves from notifying NYPD and Mister Wilsons' reps about me!

BWW is truly a wealth of knowledge. If you ask the right people the right questions, you can get answers and information you could probably find nowhere else online. (And if someone gets a fact wrong you can be sure there will be someone there to correct it.) Most of my Broadway knowledge stems from my interactions on this board for which I am eternally grateful. Now I just wish I could get my laptop back up so I can actually spend time on the site! :-P

I haven't been here for very long, but who I've met, I ve loved. It's a great place to befriend people and form connections.

Beacon, my love - I have a feeling that Mr. Wilson is well aware of your presence. All I ask is that, when you do finally meet, that I get a copy of the video re: BWW on the WWW is truly a WWW.

The other thing that really intrigues me about this site is the range of ages. I think it's a great thing that everyone gets to mingle outside whatever 'box' they may have placed themselves in - and certainly the opportunity for growth is abundant. And by that, I mean the flow of awareness between generations - which I believe should flow BOTH ways.

Very true DG. It's interesting that I feel SO at home and comfortable with the lot of you...and most of you are a bit older than I! But I never really feel condescended to or whatnot. Just kindness and mutual respect.

And it will remain that way as long as you always contain the age disparity to just 'a bit' - how kind re: BWW on the WWW is truly a WWW.

But, just want to say, again, at how I marvel at the power of BWW to make connections which are as real as any connections I have ever known. I know that at just about any hour of the day or night I can come here and find friendship. And that means something to me.

What a sweet thread. It really makes me appreciate the people I have had the chance to get to know. One person in particular who I have grown extremely fond of is going through a rough time and I just want to say to this person "Thank you for all you have done,I am glad I met you. Hang in there."

PEACE.

I've always felt bad because I'm not around enough to make real connections to people ('cept for the Bitches, naturally), but I love seeing everyone on the board every day. Knowing you're all there makes me feel safe, in a way, and you're all hilarious :)

I agree. Even though I've only met one fellow BWWer in real life (due to living so far away from most of you), I feel as if I know everyone. Just knowing that everyone is there every day to talk to about Broadway and/or anything else is comforting. Aw, today is a mushy day.

It amazes me the connections we make here. I have several friends on here that I can say anything to. Confide in. Trust completely. That's so magical. Miraculous really. This place is so much more than a message board.
