I'm trying to turn my NumLock key on to get an accent u (oh, surprise, surprise!) but when I do it like I usually do, I get nothing. I probably hit something to turn the function off, but might anyone know what that is? Thanks!

If you are using your laptop, and are turning on NumLk, you also have to hold down the Fn key with the Alt key and type 163.

Yeah. I'm on the laptop.
The way I normally got it was by hitting shift + numlock, then when the numlock was on, I hit alt + mkim and got the accented u. But now when I turn the numlock on and do that, I just get nothing at all.
I tried your fn + alt + 163 thing, and that didn't work, either.

If the shortcut didn't work, go to:

System Tools
Character Map
Select the ý from the list and hit "Copy", then hit Ctrl+V whenever you want to ues the ý.

Posted: 8/20/05 at 6:13pmThanks. But, is there a reason that my NumLk wouldn't be working?
