How about a charity COOK for BCEFA?
Just a thought...
Can I bid on a naked chef in my home?

Two points, Yenta.
1. Dolly and I made some efforts in year 1 of BWW to do a similar thing. Members submitted recipes, but the cookbook never got off the ground for several reasons; and
2. We can't even arrange a picnic or a group meal, which takes even more coordination and cooperation, and you want us to put recipes together in book form and sell them?

I don't know, it could work... my office had done this before as the New Year's gift instead of x-mas cards.
If one person volunteers to be the point person to receive all recipes... and another person can put them into a nice format... and maybe get a printer to donate the printing/copying... and the same person who did the nice format can create a nice cover... it seems like it 'could' be done.
Maybe I'm naive... but it seems doable.

I'd be glad to offer my graphic design skills... I could lay it out and design the covers and stuff... now with email distance is not an issue.
Anyway... I'm off. I'll check back in this evening...

It's a terrific idea.
I'll be happy to forward the recipes that were submitted.
It would be great to pull this off.
#8re: Cookbook Idea
Posted: 6/1/05 at 9:27pmI would be happy to compile the recipes and organize them.

If someone has the energy, inclination, and enthusiasm, I say go for it. Just because it didn't work two years ago, doesn't mean it won't work now for someone else.
Yenta, it's another thing to talk about if you come to the Ladies Night Out. Although I have to warn you that, as far as the BWW women *I* know are concerned, I don't see much home cooking being cranked out on a regular basis...
That being said, I *do* have a killer bread pudding recipe. And my vegetable soup is pretty wonderful, too.

Posted: 6/1/05 at 9:56pmOne of the problems we had with the cookbook idea was that the recipes that were submited were either taken from another sourse or downright dreadful. We also tried soliciting recipes from Broadway performers, but other than Patti LuPone, none of them seem to cook!

Posted: 6/1/05 at 10:09pmI thought one of the problems was that the number of alcoholic beverage recipes outnumbered the food 20:1. Or was that just what I was hoping would happen?

One of the other problems with the first effort was the fact that Dolly and I both work, and the time it was going to take just wasn't available.

Yeah, I agree with the alcohol comment.
Maybe two books, one for food and the other for our favorite beverages?

Who would buy a BWW Cookbook?
REALLY. I mean if it was the recipes from Gerard Alessandrini, Harvey Fierstein, Musto THEN it would be worth buying.
But why would anyone care about my recipes.
Come on folks!
If it was a star recipe cookbook then it would be more entertaining.
I would rather just give money to Broadway Cares.

Posted: 6/2/05 at 8:24amOK then, look up fanmail addresses. There are quite a few B'way lurkers on here. Maybe we can get them to contribute to the cookbook.

Well Corine..work your magic and get some of those Broadway Baby's that you interview to submit some recipes to us..maybe Kate Monster has a good recipe for an Orgasm...now would it be worth buying?
I happen to collect cookbooks and some of the best recipes come out of the ones I bought from community organizations.

You obviously didn't ask Kathleen Turner - she is a fabulous cook.

I'm currently eating a bagel and frozen vegetables.
Can I play?! hehe.

Judy- mix the veggies in a food processor and add some cream cheese and you have a great spread to add to the cookbook- so yes you can play

Mmmmm- I'm thinking about a REAL Broadway Cookbook, featuring recipes for food & Drinks featured in a Broadway show: Mrs Lovett's Meat Pies, Joanne's Vodka Stinger, Oliver's Gruel, King Arthur's Ham & Jam & Spam-a-lot, Felix Ungar's Fettucine, Turkey Lurkey...
What am I missing?
