I have one in my left eye. It hasn't shown itself yet, but it hurts more than I can tell you, and I want it gone! In fact, oddly enough, I had one about a month ago in the other eye, which is weird, as I have never had before that in my life. Yuck! Can anybody help?
Sorry if this grosses anybody out!

For me very warm compresses have always helped. But please remember if it gets worse within a couple of days see your doctor!

Posted: 6/14/07 at 8:09pmNope. It has not "erupted" yet, and it's under my lower lid. It hurts SO bad, and a hot compress has not worked. I look like someone blew up all the skin arounf my eye; it's really red and swollen.

Look on the bright side (with your good eye):
If "Stye" had a "L", it'd be "Style"!

Posted: 6/14/07 at 10:06pmContacts don't sound like a great idea. Do you have glasses you can substitute until the stye heals?

*Gasp*
You're suggesting she compromise her looks and beauty because of one measly stye???
Blueroses, c'mon now. Everyone knows that glasses give you four eyes. That's twice as many eyes that can have styes.
She should stick to her two...well, one and a half that still work well.

I know it sounds crazy, but my Mom told me to rub gold on a stye years ago, and it has always worked for me.

First of all why in God's name are you wearing your contacts?
Secondly, and this may not help if you already have a sty but it can prevent them from reoccurring, take some Johnson's No Tear Baby Shampoo dilute it 50% with warm water and rub it on your eye with a clean cotton ball. You don't have to open your eye, of course, but make sure the solution gets in there. It has a mild antibacterial that will help keep the germs out. Rise well after, of course. No it does not hurt.

Why would you come to a theatre site to ask for medical advice?
It's like going to WebMD and asking if Raul Esparza signs Playbills at the stage door.

exactly. Call a damn doctor, and get those damn contacts OUT of your eyes, that is the second most stupid thing you can do when you have a sty.
The first of course is asking for medical advice on this board

Posted: 6/15/07 at 10:32amI meant to add that the shampoo solution should be used once or twice a week on a regular schedule. I used to get stys on a regular irritating basis, but since I have been doing this I have never had one and it has been a couple of years.

shamey, my mom has your mom beat. her remedy is to go into a dark room and take the corner of a clean, white bedsheet and rub it three times along your eyelid where the stye is and sing "ickle panickle in my pasickle, ickle panickle in my pasickle, ickle panickle in my pasickle, ickle panickle in my pasickle."
my hand to god, that's true. it doesn't work, but it's true.
