Posted: 9/8/04 at 7:43amI have curly hair too, but blow it out b/c my hairstyle is shoulder length w/ layers- if I wore it curly, it would be a bit too short for my liking. I guess that counts...

Posted: 9/8/04 at 8:18amI to am a redhead with curly hair, and while most of the time I love it, it can be a major pain in the ass!

Posted: 9/8/04 at 9:36amI have curly hair - REALLY curly hair...I have been having it straightened since the 9th grade b/c it is that crappy frizzy BIG curly hair - not pretty tendrils like Bernadette. I just recently decided to give my curly hair a chance to redeem itself - I am looking for a good product to tame the frizz...any suggestions?

Posted: 9/8/04 at 10:06amSame here, showme. I always wanted the Bernadette curls. Instead, I have icky curls. If I let it dry naturally, they look terrible. If I blowdry it, it takes forever. *sigh*

Posted: 9/8/04 at 10:12amshowmethetony- Matrix Sculpting Glaze is the only product that de-frizzes my hair. When doing my hair curly, I use an ample amount to coat my hair and blow it dry. Other friends with frizzy/curly hair also swear by it.

Posted: 9/8/04 at 10:22amOy, the humidity here in DC due to the remnants of our friendly hurricane - my normally straight locks have turned into something of a curly nightmare. Just felt the need to share.

showmethetony, if I leave my hair to air dry I get a huge frizzy mess.
No matter how curly your hair is, you should scrunch it with gel and mousse (I find any gel or mousse works so I use the cheap stuff) while it's soaking wet and let it air dry.
Or, depending on the springiness of your curls, just use a serum like Frizz Ease or Zero Frizz (the cheaper version).

thanks for the advice! i will try out the Matrix Sculpting Glaze...do you have to get it from a salon or can you find it anywhere?
Rath - if I attempt to blow dry my hair just out of the shower - it takes over an hour!

Posted: 9/8/04 at 11:06amYou need to buy this book called Curly Girl. It is amazing. ANd the woman who wrote it owns a salon in NYC called Devachan. If you live in the NY area or are ever visiting you hae to go there. My cousin has really kinky curly hair and they make hers into soft ringlets. they also have the best products! Seriously this places is beyond amazing. I come out of there and I look like a supermodel! They also have a line of their products for blondes, and their redhead line is coming out soon (hooray!). I can't rave about this place enough!

Reasons why little girls grow up hating their curly hair...they brush it and it looks like this...

http://www.ebeauticare.com/matessculgla.html is the correct stuff. It's wonderful! I heard a while ago that it was discontinued as well. However, the salon where I purchase it from always has plenty in stock. We also found it at a beauty supply store while in New Jersey (I think it was in the Freehold Township Mall). We bought 8 bottles
. It keeps my hair happy and it smells great.
