I have a good friend who is a director, I sat in on an audition he held for a show the other day and I can't count on two hands how many times I heard the SAME song. It made me think about my own audition material choices.
I have a pretty big audition coming up. I need an uptempo soprano song. Can anyone think of a good song that wont be too overdone? This audition is going to have a HUGE turnout so I don't want to just blend into the crowd.
Thanks and happy new year!
What did you hear that was overdone??
no matter what song is overdone, a casting director will be more than happy to hear it if it's done WELL! As long as you do it justice, you can sing even anything like "The Beauty Is" as many times as you want! or even a Jekyll and Hyde song...really..just do it well!
best of lcuk to ya
I disagree. Yes, there's the chance that a well-heard song will blow them away, but a song that's more fresh is more likely to because they won't be immune to being impressed by it. Plus, it looks more like the auditioner (word?) did their research.
