Don't you just love the people that just think they're the sh!t? Yeah, the ones that think community theatre is just so blessed to have them... and aren't even that great to begin with.
I give you a direct quote: "And in case you haven't noticed, I'm a very modest person. I could go around saying how great of an actor I am and that I'm so rich and good looking, but I don't."
Somebody relate with me here, please.

In theater class every year, at the begining of the year, we have to introduce ourselves and say the basics...name, grade, why we are taking this class...
I love how when asked why they are taking the class, the majority of the kids say it's because they want to be an actor, major in acting in college, etc...
I sit there and laugh because NONE of them will make it.

Posted: 8/11/05 at 8:40pmUgh, my ex-friend, is always like IM SUCH AN AMAZING ACTRESS, yet to fit in w/ her new group of friends claims I HATE ACTING, so then she comes to auditions being all I LOVE ACTING..She's not that great. And then she auditions for the musical, is AWFUL at singing, and then when she gets a really sh!tty part she's all "Ehh, I asked the director not to give me a big part..I can't handle it with everything I'm doing. Besides, he should give someone else a chance to hog the spotlight' which makes it seem like having the lead is horrible, which she told to me when I got the lead. Errrrrg I hate her. lol.

This is just a prime example of people who, as my dear mother clearly puts it so eloquently, "think their sh!t don't stink".
I've known a few of those, especially my dreadful excuse of a senior year where the people just thought they should appoint themselves leaders of the class because in their mind their mediocre talents and Will&Grace knockoff exteriors seem to make them think they were the most experienced and talented in the whole damn class.....
Hello my name is BroomstickBoy and I have baggage.
Seems everytime I dye my hair red I turn into a total bitch, eh. It suits me better :-p.

Posted: 8/11/05 at 8:55pmYes, oh my god. I am part of the an opera company on the upper east side of manhattan and there are those 2 guys (they-re twins) and they think that because they always get the leads (only because they are the only tenors) that therefor they are the best, and they are not. They are gay and apparantley think that Sky Masterson, Nathan Detroit, Koko from the Mikado, and President Wintergreen from of thee i sing, are all gay! I am not saying anything bad about being gay, most of my friends are gay, but these characters aren't supposed to be!

I totally know what you mean!
There's a girl at the community theater here and she thinks that she is just the epitomy of acting. The worst part is she gets all the roles, because she's okay at everything and we don't really have very many strong females right now. Just thinking about it makes my blood boil.
One of these days, I'm telling you. . .

Posted: 8/11/05 at 9:21pmIt's even worse when they only get lead roles because they are attractive and not because of their "talent". *vomit*

This is a little threadjack but a response to something someone said.
I always feel wierd when I tell people I want to major in Musical Theatre in college. It almost seems like a juvenile thing to say. Every kid wants to be an actor/actress or a singer. The problem is, I still do.

We could get into those kids who only get the leads because their parents direct, produce, musical direct, design the costumes, or do sound and ligths for every production. And then proceed to whine about how someone is "upstaging" them in a scene where they're not even the focus.
But let's not.

Posted: 8/11/05 at 10:19pmYup, I hear ya. Those one girl in high school..ugh I couldn't stand her. One day, two friends and I were standing in the Prop room waiting for our director when we were discussing what we wanted to paint on the wall (seniors get to leave their mark) and one of my friends goes, "the three of us should all put our names up there, so it'll be a reserved space for the three Drama girls who can out-sing everyone in chorus!" and out of NO where, this delusional girl comes up to us and says to my two friends, "oh, you are SO right ,the three of us DO have the best voices!" My friends looked over at me and we all just kind of rolled our eyes...it was very amusing!

I know a girl who is fully convinced that she doesn't need college training, and that she will make it within the next couple of years.
She was also speaking to an agent, and told her that she only wants to be in a Broadway chorus for "a couple of years", before becoming the headliner.
