For those who have HD service, there's a *great* documentary on right now about the history of movie musicals from their inception (SINGIN' IN THE RAIN) to now. Lots of great clips (Judy Garland, Elizabeth Taylor, and more) and interviews with actors. It's channel 117-513 here in NYC.

"Winning a Tony this year is like winning Best Attendance in third grade: no one will care but the winner and their mom."

"I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

If anyone happened to record this I'd *LOVE* to get a copy and would reciporcate with something I own...

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."
