Andy at Towleroad has a lot of info regarding the release of the troop survey concerning openly serving gays and morale.

This little statement cracked me up -
"We believe that the services can smoothly implement the transition to a fully inclusive 'open service' policy in 2011 in a manner that serves as an example to foreign militaries around the world."

I'm assuming they're not referring to all our allies that have already integrated.

Is that statement meant to encourage openmindedness? "Hey you! Yes, the one wear camo. Do you have a problem with gay soliders? Because if the US Army has gay soldiers working gayly hand-in-hand with straight soldiers, foreign armies around the world will see how tolerant we are and they will want to be just like us! Just sayin'...if you tolerate the gays, it improves our image...(*wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*)"

"The Spectacle has, indeed, an emotional attraction of its own, but, of all the parts, it is the least artistic, and connected least with the art of poetry. For the power of Tragedy, we may be sure, is felt even apart from representation and actors. Besides, the production of spectacular effects depends more on the art of the stage machinist than on that of the poet."

"Imagine you've got a boat full of sailors . . ."

Having grown up in the military heaven of southeastern Virginia, I don't have to imagine. I've seen it many, many times. Up close.
