Has anyone read this? I just bought it and it seems like a really good little novel about teenage love between two adolescent boys. Just thought I'd ask.

Dream Boy will never leave you!
And all you gotta do is dream, baby, he'll be there...

Dream Boy is a beautiful (if a little depressing) book. Winter Birds was his first novel. Also depressing, but he wond a handful of literary awards for it. His latest is science fiction, I believe.

I liked this book very much. Wonderful imagery and interesting style and, I agree with PJ, a bit depressing. Hope you enjoy it too.

I guess I'm the odd man out, but I didn't enjoy the book. I found it painfully cliched -- yet another "shy boy has clandestine affair with popular school jock" story and throw in the tragic family situation to boot. A friend of mine called it a typical "boi book." But I'm glad people are reading gay literature. I just picked up The Line of Beauty, and I can't wait to delve into it.

And yes, Captain Obvious is a hottie. re: Dream Boy

add me to the Cap's fan club.

i happen to slightly know this book's author from "back in the day." A lot of the book is factual, even if its become a cliche. Don't ask me how i know, but trust me.

The author also has dabbled in playwriting; not sure what all has been published, but Seven Stages in Atlanta used to do some of his plays.

Add me to loving it.

I read his "Winter Birds" and "Comfort and Joy" and both have haunted me (especially "Winter Birds" - the main character there is grown up in the latter novel).

Last novel of his I read was "Boulevard" - which I liked, but was not affected by as much as the preious ones.

And midnight - what is your pic? Buffy? Point Pleasant? Hard to tell.

Oh, jimm, honey, that is most definitely Buffy, Angel and Xander in that pic. :)
And who is this author? I'm not into digging around Amazon for his name, so drop it!
