Do you think encores in concert have lost its meaning? In the past, the performer would only do oncores if the audience were great.
There was a story about the Grateful Dead. They were paying their heart out and the audience was piss poor. So, after the set, the tour manager was preparing for an oncore. Garcia told him to turn on the light. He said that the audience didn't deserve an encore.
Nowadays, encore is part of the set. It's no longer a special treat for the audience.
Sorry, just random rambling of a man who been staring at numbers for too long.
