There's a local Mexican restaurant called Senoritas that is very good. In the theater district, we like to go to Angus McIndoe's, or Rosie O'Grady's if we're seeing a show in the north end of the theater district.
Artisinal, with Ouest a very, very close 2nd.

Erm, I was going to post something very dirty. And then I decided to be classy... damn.
It closed a year ago. The name was RAKU. ;-(
I guess my next favorite place for sushi is Blue Fin or Blue Water Grill.
For drinks: Bamboo 52.

If you're in San Francisco, go to Scala's, inside the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. It's a FANTASTIC Italian place.
Best pasta in town, hands down.

Believe it or not, right now our favorite restaurant is at Disneyland. It's the high-end place at the Grand Californian in Downtown Disney - the Napa Rose. It's been rated the top restaurant in Orange County from the moment it opened.
Perfect ambience, decor, service, menu, wine list . . . and on and on. Truly a spectacular 'event' location, for those in SoCal.

I love sitting at the bar in " Joe Allen's " on 46th st. - - eating a hamburger
and having a drinkie ! One of my very favorite things to do especially after
a show.
If you're ever in London, find the Arts theatre. Now, ignore whatever's playing, 'cos with the exception of Jay Johnson it's all rubbish, and turn your back on the theatre. See that Japanese place over the road, Abeno Too? GO IN! Get some authentic okonomiyaki (cabbage omelette/pancake/pizza hybrid thing) grilled on the table in front of you by genuine Japanese waitresses! My mother is fearful of new experiences, but she loooooved her some okonomiyaki. :3
Then leave Abeno Too, turn left, keep going up on the left hand side of the Hong Kong Café. You'll end up in Chinatown. If you want tasty, filling Japanese cuisine that's delightfully cheap served to you by staff who REFUSE to be tipped, look for the Tokyo Diner. OMNOMNOMNOMNOM!
Opposite the Garrick theatre is a café called Ciao. Go there for ice cream. Delicious italian ice-cream, served to look like delicious pasta or pizza or other savoury dishes! Confusing, but delightful. :3
Do you kids ever go to Bath? Hong Kong Bistro down by the demolition site that is/Southgate centre that was/Debenham's that will be is cheap, tasty, and friendly. Also ridiculously conveniently located if you live on the other side of the river and tend to hanker for Chinese takeout for dinner as you walk home.
I do eat western food, but eastern Asians are JUST SO GOOD at dairy-free and vegetarian and fish! ^_^

n69n, I've only eaten eggplant parmesan twice, both were in Manhattan. I ate it at John's Pizzeria on 44th and loved it. I'm extremely picky and it was my first, but it was delicious. I tried it about two weeks later at Tony's ("TONY'S") on 43rd and got one bite down. It just had a very disgusting consistency that was quite unlike the one I'd eaten before. So my vote goes to John's.
VNYCurious: Indus Valley is excellent! After so many restaurants failing in that location over the years, I'm thrilled to see it succeed because it really is one of the best Indian restaurants in the city.
It is indeed. I don't remember what was there before Indus Valley though.
I've been to a couple of Indian restaurants around the city. Some of them my Indian friends took me to, and Indus Valley is still the best one I've been to. Also, it's 3 blocks from my apartment.
Passed this place BASERA (indian restaurant) the other day on 9th and 50th. It looked very nice with unbelievably decent prices It was PACKED! (It seems like new places every day here on 9th Ave, Hell's kitchen) So I decided to look it up on menuPages, etc.
Have you ever eaten at this place?
Anyone?
Seems to get pretty good reviews on the foodie blogs.
I had previously listed Sushi of Gari as one of my favorite places to eat, but I went today and was denied a seat and was treated like total ****, so I have taken it off my list, and I will never eat there again.
They have the best sweet potato fries. And on the weekends they stay open late, which is ideal after a midnight showing of Rocky Horror at Secoast Rep. (:
I also love:
Tasty Thai
Peterboro Diner
Bessie's (they have a delicious crab and cheddar sandwich)
The Front Porch
Five-O
Cafe Prego (owned by the same folks who run Five-O)
Sake (my favorite place for sushi and tempura)
The Flatbread Pizza Company

I am obsessed with Mas(farmhouse) in the West Village. The chef is all about seasonal, organic food, so the menu changes every day. It is VERY pricy, but so worth it. Best meal I've ever had, hands down.
Weez - I wish I had known about that place back in March! I usually end up at Pizza Express.
My favorite restaurant in Chicago is RL, the Ralph Lauren cafe. I thought it would be some overpriced kitschy chain, but it is FANTASTIC. Everything I have eaten there is wonderful.
But my favorite meal I've ever eaten is at Cafeina in Porto, Portugal. Everything about that place was perfection.
