An I thought this was the resolution to MamaMiaSammy2's various mysteries of the disappearing BWW posters.
Shucks!

*hums ready to take a chance again...*
Awwww, I'm in good company. I have always been crazy for the movie. I have a thing for most movies based in SF, but this one is a definite favorite.
The man who played the pope was a beloved figure in SF.
*hums the Mikado*

Dudley Moore's performance is inspired.
And it's always fun to watch Burgess Meredith try and kick some ass

I just watched this again last night for the first time in years, and it was still as funny as ever! What a great Hitchcockian spoof! Goldie as always was priceless (and to think the role was originally offered to Farrah Fawcett!), Chevy Chase was promising in his very first starring role and this happens to be only one of three roles I cared for him in (the other two are "Vacation" and "Fletch").
A great supporting cast includes: Burgess Meredith, Marilyn Sokol, Billy Barty, Rachel Roberts, Brian Dennehy and Dudley Moore.
Great script and direction by Colin Higgins, who also directed two of my other favorite comedies: "Silver Streak" and "9 to 5".
It also features the classic Oscar-nominated theme song "Ready To Take A Chance Again" sung by Barry Manilow.

One of my all-time favorite movies.
But most of my friends say that my movie collection looks like I stole it from my local library. All old movies :)
But I have a lot of new stuff too.
Who wants to write a musical based on this movie? Come on, Manilow, do your stuff!

I loved this movie as a kid. It was on HBO all the time. I remember once it was supposed to be on network tv in the early 80s, but they preempted it because there was some real situation with the pope (an assassination attempt, I believe).
This movie pairs with with that other classic Goldie/Chevy movie, Seems Like Old Times.

Posted: 11/15/07 at 12:22pmOh, yes Seems Like Old Times is good as well. I haven't seen that one in awhile. Charles Grodin was also in that. Written by Neil Simon if I remember correctly. Thanks for reminding me PRS.

I loved Aurora, the housekeeper.
"The doctor said I had to get my foots scraped."
"She's not in the garage eating chicken, that's for sure."

Yes! Aurora the housekeeper was a scene stealer! I'm an old movie poster addict and I just happen to have the original artwork for that movie's poster saved on my laptop! It's too cute!

Fun movie. I LOVED the "bachelor pad" bedroom scene with Dudley Moore!
Chevy and Goldie had great onscreen chemistry. Years later, when Chevy had the on-air feud with Howard Stern, I remember being really surprised at what a humorless @sshole he was.

I also have the one done for Goldie's film debut CACTUS FLOWER. The artists involved all managed to capture her whimsical nature in the posters for FOUL PLAY, CACTUS FLOWER and SEEMS LIKE OLD TIMES.

I love how in FOUL PLAY Burgess Meredith keeps on getting the catch phrase wrong:
"Look out for the elves!"
"Beware of the midgets!"

I LOVE Foul Play!
And every time I head up the winding Pacific Coast Highway, I have to blast out "Ready To Take a Chance Again."
It's the Goldie Hawn in me unleashed.
