Well, there's always acting...
In a statement issued by his campaign, Fred Thompson said:
"Today I have withdrawn my candidacy for President of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort. Jeri and I will always be grateful for the encouragement and friendship of so many wonderful people."

This makes me weep...
...weep in gales of laughter. What was he thinking in the first place?

To quote a friend of mine, "For someone who wanted to be president, Fred Thompson sure didn't do a good job of making it seem like he wanted to be president!"
That said, I'm glad we can see reruns of the classic Law and Order episodes on NBC again. These new ones aren't very good...

""I can live, I will be happy either way, you decide. I'm not even trying to say that I'm better than everybody else. … I am just saying that what you see is what you get. I'm doing it my way — just like I have done everything else in my life," Thompson said on the campaign trail in Sioux City in November. "
OR, as Fred so stirringly put it "Whatever."

There go my dinner plans. There is a pall in my office.
People are weeping in the streets of lower Manhattan.
Poor Fred.

He's quit the race and he's no longer on "Law and Order".
