ben & jerry's
Is it wrong that there's a B&J right next to my gym? Or that I want to go right after I workout tonight?
I'll be sure to treadmill off an extra 300 calories in anticipation of it.
no, what is wrong is that i've scouted out all the participating stores in the tri-state area and plan on returning to each one with a change of clothes.

There is a God.
RobbO, you're too funny.
Bwaysinger, I suggest you get in line now. Theres a B&J across from where I work, and line is all the way down the block!
Woh, Dottie. But this one's in gay Chelsea, where everyone's too concerned about their ab fat to go to Ben & Jerry's for a free cone.
I and my ab fat should be just fine.
Now that you mention the Chelsea location, you're right, chances are there's ABSolutely no line there!!
as long as it is not on bleecker street, singer, you should be okay. ( i have no clue if bleecker is in chelsea but check out the participating locations before you go!!)

Gah. Unfortunately it would cost me as much in gasoline to get to a Ben & Jerry's as it would just to buy a cone.
oh, RobbO, come to NYC. I must teach you. Mostly, Bleecker is in the Village.
toaster schmo-ster, i gots free ice cream.
What flavor did you get, or does one not get a choice today?
Fatty Fat Fatties! The lot of you!
(I'm just jealous - we don't have Ben & Jerry's stores down here.)
dottie, i was speaking metaphorically. i haven't actually had the ice cream yet...
toaster?????????????????????

Bleeker street is not participating. They took the sign down a few weeks ago, and replaced it with one saying they would not be participating due to construction on the street.

The Free Cone
A Review
The highly paticipatory Upper West Side celebrated its Ben & Jerry's free cones at the store on the North East corner of the intersection of 104th & Broadway.
Although I am in carbo and sugar avoidance mode, I decided to investigate this societal event due to your posting, Mr. RobbO. (And for what mistaken belief did you call me a liar yesterday, by the by?)
I went at 6:30 PM, thinking surely they would be out of ice cream or the line, which was about a third of the way down the block toward Amsterdam, would never be fully served by 8:00 PM. I wondered who would be in the line to take up this offer. I was surrounded mostly by high school and college age students. Some young actors. There were some mothers with children. Later on some adult men joined the line, which was pretty upbeat.
I heard stories of how they ran out of ice cream last year at 7:00 PM, and how one time there were only two available flavors. It was perceived that a rain shower was threatening, which some predicted would immediately evaporate the line.
The young woman beside me with two sharp, pointy piercings on one eyebrow had received a Ben & Jerry's e-mail informing her of the event, some Spelunker's Club they have, she said. I inquired how it was they had a cave exploration club; she said it was just the name.
There were eight or more flavors including chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, mango, black raspberry...they'd run out of the cookie dough and the cookies & cream variety. They were regular size cones. I got a no sugar vanilla with fudge chips which was fine and which, came on a sugar cone.
The whole process took about 25-30 minutes.
And it was fun.

OMG-SO THAT'S IT!!!! thank the lord (RobbO) for posting this! I was dying for a cone and I was in Rockefeller center. I know they have a B&J in the concourse. I headed over there, visions of oreo dancing in my head. OY VEY, there were 300 people on line! I had no idea why. I decided then and there I'd better avoid that place from now on.
