Anyone know where this phrase originated? I've heard it for at least 15 yrs, and had assumed it was from Gypsy, (a la Sing Out Louise) but now I'm not so sure, can't find the exact quote in there.
Someone has suggested it came from Power Rangers? I'm betting it has an older source.

"Girls, you're both Pretty!"
I would assume it would have something to do with someone placating PJ & Reg.

LOL, Brian!
As far as the question, I don't think that is an expression that I hear as a rule? I mean my mom might have said it to my sister and I when we were little or something.

I first heard it in a Charlotte Rae imitation, as Mrs Garrett refereeing between two of the girls on Facts of Life.
And, for the record, Reginald is MUCH prettier than I am.
Especially since he had all that work done.

I've always heard it from directors, musical directors or choreos. It's offically "Girls, Girls, you're both pretty" no matter the gender or number of people arguing.
Recently it has become Glenn Beck's fav phrase so you hear it quoted on chatty news shows alot recently.
Unfortunately people are crediting it to Beck and it DEFINATELY precedes his infamy.

It could actually be The Patty Duke Show...

Does it need to be *from* something? Everything you really need is in there - the instruction to shut up, and the implication that you're arguing over something really petty. Could just be a saying.
Can't say I've ever seen Reg need placating, but he is VERY pretty. Anyway. ^_^

Put on your big girl panties, and deal with it.

Isn't it from WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE?!
I thought that was something the maid said to Joan and Bette to try to calm them down during one of their histrionic arguments...

Can you actually know what the quote is officially without knowing anything else about it?
I do know it is not from Gypsy. And it is not from Valley of the Dolls. I don't recall it every being said on The Facts of Life, but I don't say that with utmost certainty.

Namo - no, because of what I think drives his insanity.
And I don't like that, by the way. We have standards.
