Posted: 1/22/08 at 9:52amI am very excited about this. The Bacall/Chamberlin version was ok but this promises to be excellent. I love the casting.

Bumping because I'm beyond excited to finally get to see this next weekend.
I love the casting as well, and I've yet to read a bad review.
Check out the trailer!

I'm very excited to see this. I know she had some connection to the Ballet World in NYC.
When will they make the Rebecca Harkness story?

Posted: 2/12/08 at 10:58pmThe mascera clad, limp wristed Fiennes that he has turned into at this point in the film makes me a bit uncomfortable. However, Sarandon is heaven.

I have no spoilers, so here's what I thought:
I LOVE HBO. I LOVE Susan Sarandon. I LOVE Ralph Fiennes. I wanted to love Bernard and Doris.
Flat film, flat Fiennes ( wanted to check and see if he had a pulse.) Flat Susan Sarandon. It sounded like she was just saying the words. Yes, it's nice if you don't actually SEE an actor acting, but I didn't even think she was trying to do any acting. Too flat for me.
Disappointed.

Posted: 2/12/08 at 11:54pmI agree flat Fiennes and overall flat film but I found Sarandon to be stunning. However, it may just be that character is so intriguing that it would be hard for an actress to miss, but I thoroughly enjoyed her.

Posted: 2/12/08 at 11:59pmThe entire time I felt like I was hearing Susan Sarandon speaking, and not Doris Duke. I didn't get to know Duke one iota, because all I could hear (and see) was Sarandon. I know a lot of people loved her, but it didn't work for me at all.
