HOLY CRAP: National Preparedness Month

So Michael Chertoff of the Dept. of Homeland Security is announcing that September "National Preparedness Month" so people can "be prepared" for emergencies.

It would seem to me that this is going to be one of those "wellllllll, if only the PEOPLE in New Orleans had been ready..."

In four years, we've gone from talking about stock piling duct tape to losing a coastline, and in only 72 hours watching dehydrated American citizens literally begining to starve, and even die, in front of our eyes on CNN.

Let's begin by ripping that tape off our ears -- we're overdue for a serious look at the priorities in this country.

By someone, you mean Bush, Bluemoon? After all, they ignored all that "specious evidence" about wetlands protecting New Orleans from flooding and such and cut the funding for the levee protection/upgrading...but, somehow, it's all Louisiana's fault this happened.

I do remember ready.gov and the helpful "bend over" illustrations in case somebody set off an atom bomb.

yeah, like i believe you have anything other than a sling for a bed. monogrammed letter whip, perhaps?
