In retrospect A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN, DICK TRACY and DESPERATELY SEEKING SUSAN weren't really films that could truly be considered Madonna vehicles. She played a supporting role in each of those films, she wasn't the star and the films weren't dependent on her performance to make them successful.

EVITA on the other hand is another story altogether. A hit, yes but it has not aged well and her vocal weakness in a part that required someone with much more vocal prowess is quite evident when viewed today. It needs to be remade.

Evita didn't require much dialogue. There are points in the movie where her "acting" shines through. Those are the moments that make me giggle. The movie is and always will be fantastic.

EVITA *is* a wonderful film. Visually it was breathtaking and Banderas sounded and looked good throughout. Madonna wasn't really the Eva Peron I was expecting and I was really rooting for her when she was cast but in the end she wasn't the reason I went to see the film 5 times back in 1996.

Well obviously, the only people for which Madonna would be the reason they went to see Evita 5 times in the theatres would be die hard Madonna obsessors.
