I MISSED HIS 80TH BIRTHDAY BY A WEEK!
So sorry!
I adore him. Here is my post from last year:
December 27, 2008
He's 79 today. Some consider him the greatest film dancer of all time. (I forgot that he was in the original Broadway production of JUNO in 1959.)
He does a fabulous duet with Bob Fosse in the film MY SISTER EILEEN...and dances circles around Bob Fosse. Bob Fosse!
In addition to dancing and acting, he was also a successful opera singer and, later in life, became a wonderful painter.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Rall...and many more!

He was such an incredible, strong dancer. Love him in Seven Brides, My Sister Eileen, and Kiss Me Kate!
And my mom had the biggest crush on him, so she always told me.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Rall!

Besty, your mom had a good eye. I forgot to mention in the original post that he was also extremely good-looking! (And he aged quite well, imo.)
Here is the aforementioned duet with Bob Fosse, who choreographed. (BTW, MY SISTER EILEEN was Fosse's first film credit as choreographer.)
Tommy Rall thrills and amazes!

I love that photo with him and Kathryn Grayson! She still looks pretty dang good, too!
So few of the MGM-ers left now.

Here he is in the famous barn-raising scene from SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS. He's that gorgeous brother wearing the red shirt. Also, Russ Tamblyn (of WEST SIDE STORY fame) is the brother in blue.
