My favorite place for Ice Cream was Rumplemeyers but it closed.
Try Serendipity on the East side and have the frozen hot chocolate. It is sooooooooo good.

Find a place with gelato (and they're not hard to find).... it's even better than ice cream!

Well, my favorite place for frozen sweets is not in Manhattan, it's in Queens. I LOVE the Lemon Ice King of Corona. http://queens.about.com/od/eatingout/gr/lemon_ice_king.htm Yummy ices in all flavors. If you get there, I would suggest the peanut butter. And it's really cheap!

Best in NYC is at either Ciao Bella or Il Laboratorio del Gelato. Both are gelato shops by the same owner and both are downtown.

I went to Cones for the first time Labor Day weekend with an absolute sweetheart of a guy. There were so many flavors to choose from, but what I ended up with was delicious.

AMAZING! The frozen hot chocolate is to die for. I agree with Lildogs in the rest though. Although my service was good, we waited forever.

Serendipity 3 is always heavily populated with tourists, so if you're heading there, expect a lengthy wait.

Yes. I've lived on the Upper East Side for 3 years now, and didn't set foot in Serendipity 3 until last summer. Okay experience overall, but really - nothign special AT ALL.
