I remember days
Or at least I try

They're sort of haze
And the bluest ink
Isn't really sky
And at times I think
I would gladly die

This thread could become quite interesting. Do let us know how it goes.
I really want it done.
It cost a lot of money if your insurance doesn't pay for it- right?

I don't know of anyone personally, but didn't that girl from PUNKY BREWSTER have it done?
ETA: It was Soleil Moon Frye.

Posted: 9/8/06 at 6:47pmThe web says it can cost between five and ten thousand, but since my dad is active duty the military is paying for it.

I've wanted it done for years. (and shut it papa, I already know what's coming)
I have had a few friends that have had it done. One is the happiest she's ever been (she's a gorgeous girl, any absolutely tiny, but had FFF at 5'2". She got them reduced to a C cup, lost over 20 pounds in just breast tissue and now is getting modeling and acting gigs like crazy), and said she would go through the recovery again a million times over if she had to.
ETA: She's a dependent of her father and so she's covered by his insurance.
I wish I had done it when I was covered by my parents' military insurance.

All surgery is scary, but I know a few girls who have had it done, all with positive results.

colleen-
me and you, we'll get it done together.
But seriously, I'm so self-conscience that I don't wear anything that is even semi-tight.

So, is the major complaint lumbago?
ETA: Good luck, drama! I'll be thinking of you.

As his child, I'm considered a 'dependent', as are my mother and brother. It's something to do with our healthcare.
ETA: What Colleen said. That's why I'm having it done now, while I'm still covered.

I think some insurances will pay for it, but the surgery has to be preauthorized and there is certain criteria that must be met before insurance will approve (and pay) for the surgery. In other words, it has to be proven "medically necessary".
Good luck.

Good luck and please do come back and tell us how it went.
Well, not the experience, per se...but how the outcome is

I have two different friends who had it done when we were all pretty young. One was 18, the other 22. They both said the recovery was very painful and long, but that it was totally, absolutely worth it, especially as they both were experiencing a lot of back pain associated with the size of their breasts. They were both thrilled with the results.
Good luck to you!!!

Well, I am officially coming out. I had one when I was 17. Heed the doctor's advice. Stay home as long as you can. I had mine done at a better hospital about an hour from my home. I was fine for the two days in the hospital but the ride home on the interstate nearly KILLED me. If you have to travel at all, make sure you medicate before you go. Each bump can bring tears. I became SO protective of my chest. I honestly think I caused myself more pain by bracing for anything that looked like it might hurt. I ended up pulling muscles, if that makes any sense. Just don't be afraid to take your pain medicine.
When you first have it done you will look really flat. It scared the hell out of me. I thought they had removed too much. Within a week I had "fallen" to a normal size.
I don't regret it at all. I still worry about the breast feeding thing. The specific type of surgery I had is hit or miss when it comes to breast feeding because the nipple was never completely detached. (Probably TMI, sorry.) I won't know if I will be able to until I have a child. A friend of mine, who had one a few years back, had a baby six weeks ago. She could not figure out why she wasn't able to breast feed. Her doctor had not bothered to tell her about that probability. She was obviously upset by it. I guess now Doctors assume you know things like that going into it.
If you have any specific questions, I will be happy to answer them for you. :)

My best friend had it done and she went through a pretty long recovery which was not extremly painful, but not a walk in the park either. In the end she was very happy with the results. She was having horrible back problems and said that the pain from her back was about triple what the pain she went through in recovery.
Good luck!

One of my aunt's had a reduction surgery. She went from an M to a DD and she was fine! No problems.
We'll all be thinking about you, drama! Best wishes.

Posted: 9/9/06 at 10:40amA good friend of mine had it. She did develop some keloid scars and down the road some of the fat did return but the interesting aspect of the surgery is that it has one of the highest ratings for patient satisfaction and improvement in all quality of life issues of ALL the plastic surg procedures avail. There are some tx avail to soften/reduce scars, I'll get the name of it for u.

I'm coming out too.
I had it when I was 21 and like JerseyGirl2 said, the recovery process was long and painful but TOTALLY worth it. To be honest, I wasn't prepared for the amount of pain I was in...so I think you should just bear that in mind and realize it's a price you have to pay BUT that the end result will be worth it.
Also make sure you have someone close to you to help you get dressed and shower and stuff - my sister shampooed my hair and put lotion on my breasts and everything, and I don't know how I would have managed without her.
Yes, breastfeeding is an uncertainty for me, as well. Again, a price we have to pay....oh well.
Hope all goes well and that you are happy with the results! I'm here for questions or just support if you need it.

Posted: 9/9/06 at 11:03amA family member of mine had it done when she was 17 and it has completely changed her life for the better. She's 5 feet tall, very petite, and had lots of back problems before the surgery. Now she is 28 and married with a baby. She had the option of breast feeding but chose to use formula just for convenience reasons. I wish you the best with your surgery and recovery!
