*Minor Spoilers*
So im a big fan of the original, it came at a time when slasher films were dying out (again) and gave the horror scene and kick in the arse. It was clever, well written, had some good acting and some genuine characters who you liked.
The second was not bad, if not a bit campy, death killed off the 3rd film except for the impressive roller coaster scene and a few others........and now The Final Destinantion
How the hell did they get away with this. The story (again) is recycled from the original, nothing new in anyway shape or form happens, how hard could it be to come up with a new twist on the story? (they almost found one with the suicide guy but then didnt bother exploring it)
The deaths are poor, and if this is all the franchise has left now they sure as hell ran out of ideas, not one shocking/scary/clever death (the swimming pool and the lawnmower were rubbsih)
The effects have to be some of the worst i have ever seen, the opening set up at the race track was horrid, it looked like it cost about 10 quid to make the whole thing.
The opening also suffered one of the worst and dullest of the franchise. An airplane crash, a pile up on a highway, the rollercoaster are all fears we have, so many things can go wrong and we all worry. The new opening did not tap in to any of that and had no balls to back it up and make it shocking, it was cheap and tacky.
The Directing is awful and the poor actors try their best with what they have but ts not a lot. There is nothing in here but a series of set ups for the deaths. The first few had great scenes away from the set ups, character work, plot development, you can tell they have none of that when the film comes in at around 70 mins.
And the ending, that was a cheap and horrid cop out and a rip off from the original only with that strange effect which made it look like they ran out of money.
The only one bit which was amusing but tacky was the 3D Film the 2 girls went to see getting a little too 3D, but the effects were so bad for that that you were let down again.
This HAS to be the last unless they can come up witrh something darker, fresher with a new twist on the story.
2/10 (and thats just because some of the poor young actors really tried)

Posted: 9/1/09 at 8:48amNo. I already said that HALLOWEEN II is the worst film ever. I can think of a couple hundred movies that I think are worse than THE FINAL DESTINATION.

Posted: 9/1/09 at 10:48amSonganddanceman, I completely agree. I am a huge fan of the first movie (and the series) but I was very disappointed with the 4th installment. There was some potential to salvage it (security guard character, second flashback, etc.) but it went nowhere. I thought the clues/visions that the main character experienced were jumbled and more difficult to figure out. Honestly, I think my favorite part of the film was just trying to find all of the hidden references to the first movie (180, Clear Rivers Water, McKinley, etc.).
