...in my opinion, the off-topic board has started to become rather toxic, cynical, and mean-spirited lately.
I've been noticing that it's been affecting me and my attitude.
...and I think it would be healthier for me to spend less time on-line and start focusing on other areas of my life.
...so I'm taking a bit of an extended hiatus from you all.
Take Care,
Windy
Yeah, this posting comes across as one of those passive-aggressive "no, no, please don't stop me," whines, but I needed to post it just so that I wouldn't be tempted change my mind.

When you speak of me, and you will, be kind.
May I PM you my Manhunt screen name?

It has been toxic, cynical, and mean spirited since at least March of 05, that was the reason why I joined.

It was toxic, cynical, and mean spirited back when it was the board at Broadway.com. It was usually the result of a guy who was banned and came back under the name Spike. I wonder if Spike had trouble finding a name. Oh the memories.

You were so gay for Spike!

Has "The Spike" reopened? That was a great place! Then the breeders took over the area and ruined it.
Goodbye Windy. Don't stay away too long!
Am I one of the last few from Chicago on these boards?

Uh, no! Glebb, Mister Matt, Joe K, to name a few.
I stand corrected. I didn't think before I posted. I know you are all from Chicago. Thanks brdlwyr.
The OT boards? More like all of the BWW boards. I think it just has to do with theater people being catty. :]
"There is a gay bar in New York City called 'The International Stud.' It boasts a pool table, pinball machine and the jumpingest backroom in town. I dearly dedicate these plays to all who made it their home. I wish for all of them the courage to leave it when they can, and the good sense to come back when they must."

Nah, all message boards are like this.
If you think BWW is "toxic, cynical, and mean-spirited," don't ever go to DataLounge. They'll rip you apart. BWW is rather tame when compared to DL.

I have always loved that dedication, PalJoey.
And I will always love you too WCA!
I enjoy bitchiness as much as the next gay fella, but fun bitchy is the kind of bitchy that's enjoyable to me. It's not that I'm even offended by some of the harsh things I see on the board, certain things just get boring to me.
It's like people who always respond to a question that they think is annoying with a slam or a quip. It would be a lot less predictable if they just answered the f*cking question once in a while.
That said, there are so many intelligent, fascinating people on this board and I'm glad to be able to read their thoughts on such a wide variety of different topics.
I guess I look at it as running.......and that defeats the purpose. There is enough good here to keep me here. My God with all the crap we have to put up in REAL life.....this nonsense rarely affects me anyway.....
