Limits on your craft?

Is there anything that you could be asked to do for a play or film that would keep you from accepting the role?

I wouldn't do a nude scene.

See, I'd probably be fired for creating my own nude scene.

no, not at all

"Applause begets applause in the theatre, as laughter begets laughter and tears beget tears." CLAYTON HAMILTON, "Theory of the Theatre" "I think theater ought to be theatrical ... you know, shuffling the pack in different ways so that it's -- there's always some kind of ambush involved in the experience. You're being ambushed by an unexpected word, or by an elephant falling out of the cupboard, whatever it is." TOM STOPPARD

I don't even like seeing myself nude, why would I do that to an audience?

I think film roles that require really scary stunts like dangling from a cliff thousands of feet above ground or having to be underwater for long periods of time - those things might hold me back...but then again, I might use those things as excuses to overcome some personal fears.

"I don't really get the ending, all i can go with is when after several months,Judith saw Pat sang, and later she kissed him on the toilet, after that the story back to where Pat went down from the stage after he'd sung, and he went to the italian lady.I just don't get it,what Judith exatcly meant when he kissed Pat that she had seen, and did Pat end up together with The Italian Lady? Please help me,thank u very much!" Quote from someone on IMDB in reference to a movie he/she didn't understand. Such grammar!

can't think of anything, unless it meant having actual intercourse with someone i wouldn't have sex with in the first place....like Tara Reid...

Probably a nude scene. I second Boobs' response -- I dont like seeing myself naked.... why would the audience? lol

being naked isn't as bad as you think it is....you just have to be either very thin or in great shape to look good...the stage adds 10 lbs!

It's a self esteem/self image thing. Im not a big girl at all (I weigh in at 5'3"/125lbs) but I still hate looking at myself in the mirror... and that's clothed and not clothed.

Wouldn't it be a way to get past your insecurities, though? If you HAD to do it for a role?

oh CJR, you sound like you are above average as far as looks are concerned--you know how many women would kill to be your size?

and touchme, are you saying you wouldn't play a Nazi, or a child molester, or a cannibal? Then you'd be shut out of Cabaret, Parade, Frozen, Sweeney Todd, etc...????

perhaps...
I'mn a freak when it comes to putting my head under water - its just so difficult for me - so when I watch The Poseidon Adventure - I get really anxious. Maybe doing a role like that would force me to take swimming lessons (god, I start to perspire just thinking about it - yikes!)

no, lildogs. Usually, if you play a Nazi, you're in a play where the Nazi is made the bad guy. I'd be ok with that.

I wouldn't want to be involved with a play that, for instance, supported banning gay marriage, or supported 4 more years for an unelected president. That sort of thing.

It's more the message of the play than the character.

Luckily, I think you'd be hard pressed to find that kind of material.

The only thing I've ever heard of even remotely along those lines is that horrifying presentation the evangelicals put on at Halloween - kind of a 'horror house' with scenes depicting abortions, AIDS death and so on.

i see, touchme, though i think you're speaking more of propaganda, rather than a legit work...i doubt i would have liked being in "Triumph of the Will" myself...

and the last thing i'd do is audition for the evangelical halloween/abortion extravaganza....can u imagine the musical numbers from that one?

#20re: Limits on your craft?

the opening song: "I'm a slutty woman, kill my baby"

act I finale: "AIDS is God's cure"

Act II opening: "Jesus dies for some of you"

Closing number: "Amazing Grace"

Sondheim has found an idea for a new show at last.

touchme, your songs remind me of the ones sung by Lurlene (played by Nicole Sullivan) on MADTV....
Other Hits:

"If I Had A Hanger"

"Jesus Kills"

"T-Cell Tango" (They Had It Comin')
