i mean, come on! if i saw her skinny white ass on one more jayconandave talk show giggling about how her 'body has gone through changes' and she's now 'eating better' i was going to start throwing-up myself! now there's going to be this huge out-pouring of support and people talking about how brave she is for overcoming it. PLEASE! ...i'm just waiting for nicole richie to admit the truth now. [sorry... not a good time of the month for me :)]

I feel a little bit bad for her. But I'm definitely not surprised.

Oh, and honestly -- it's kinda ridiculous to say that it wouldn't take a lot if she overcame this. IF. I'm not saying "oh, she's so strong, she'll be fine!" because hell if I know, but seriously now. If she overcame this, that's a stupid, annoying thing? Classy. She's the least annoying of the lot, for me, so power to her if she can shape up.

An apology to anyone on this board who's ever suffered through bulemia or drug abuse and what not, but I can't STAND it when people, especially FILTHY rich, otherwise beautiful people blame other things or other people for their mistakes. I've had friends MUCH worse off than Linsday Lohan go through anorexia, cutting, drug abuse, alcohol abuse...and we live in one of the richest areas of the country, but they never, ever blames anyone but themselves for letting themselves getting so askewed.

She certainly should not blame Hollywood. Everyone loved her curves. It's like saying Scarlett Johansson isn't beautiful. Who ever told Lindsay Lohan that she wasn't gorgeous?

perhaps people in her personal life, pushing her to look more adult because it is a current trend in Hollywood for older women to be very thin. (Desperate Housewives...)

Everyone deals with these issues differently, so why pick her apart even now when she's trying to be her own person with her own ideas and ideals?

It's human nature to judge and pry and everyone is guilty of it, but this really isn't anyone's business. The fact she's putting herself out there is very brave.

Quite possibly many people. She may have lost out on roles, she may have had pressure from her label - you have no idea what her experience has been.

Who ever told Lindsay Lohan that she wasn't gorgeous?
Well, I'm sure in her formative years in the business she's heard she was too fat, too skinny, too not blonde, too small-breasted etc, ad nauseam. I'm not making any excuses, but I'm sure the girl has had more than her share of negative criticism thrown at her.

Granted, I'd have more respect for her if she just said, "I took drugs because they feel good," but I live in the real world.

Very true, but I was under the impression that she had changed agents and such a few months ago now. But you're right, I don't know what she's been through. I still don't think (maybe because of my own morals) that she should have reduced herself to this. ::Shrugs:: But what do I know.

This is sad almost to the point of being pathetic. How many have come before Lohan (Tracey Gold, Dana Plato, Susan Dey to name a few) and how many more will come after before *they* stop this madness. It's a vicious cycle and yet no one learns a damned thing from it.

i'm just voicing **my** opinion, emcee, that's all there is to it. i happen to think that she is just another hollywood hypocrite who (unfortunately) seems to have been pushed in the wrong direction partly because of her mother. think about it: her mom at one time during her youth sought the spotlight--never achieved it, so now she has basically forced her daughter into the limelight and has been living vicariously off of her since then. now, from what i understand, her mom (who is her manager?) seems to be around lindsay quite a bit. you cannot tell me, then, that she had NO clue what was happening to her daughter. therefore, she pretty much allowed it to continue until it almost went too far. that's why we should applaud other ACTRESSES (i wouldn't really classify lohan as an actress, more like a personality, or star) such as scarlett johansson who appear to be on the right path and are maintaining a healthy (albeit, "thicker" physique by hollywood standards) image for their audiences. whatever happened to looking like a woman? why does hollywood promote these boy-like, stick-figures?

That's cool. And I'm voicing mine. re: Lindsay Lohan admits bulimia, drug use--anyone else not surprised?? Sorry if that came off as rude, I didn't mean for it. I just think she's got some potential -- or more than some of the others she's grouped with, anyway -- but either way, I just don't think it's cool not to think someone (anyone) somewhat strong to get through something as serious as an eating disorder. Even if you dislike the person, getting past that isn't really something I'd shake a fist at.

It could be PR bullsh*t, but I was watching MTV this afternoon, and they were talking about her, saying her full statement said something about hoping to encourage others to better take care of their bodies and not make her mistake. Granted, that has a lot of conditions and stipulations to it, but I think people are placing a little bit too much fault on Lindsay herself.

it's cool, emcee :) I definitely agree with you that she has potential (much more so than hilary duff) and she seems to have that intangible, indiscribeable "it." and maybe too much fault is being placed on her, which is exactly why i mentioned her mom.

Well, at least she's being more honest with herself. Regardless of what anyone else thinks, I think she has talent and a lot of potential. I hope she gets out of this okay, and not become another child star/drug addict.

I think its hysterical that everyone (not just on this board) has started using Scarlett Johannsen as the new poster girl for "curvy" actresses. I have nothing against her, she's talented and astonishingly gorgeous, but is she REALLY curvy?

Well it depends on what you classify curvy...

There are a couple of asumptions here I'd like to rip to little bits. First of all, since when are eating disorders decisions? They're diseases- ones with a conscious aspect, but diseases nonetheless.

Second, people don't exist atomically. As much as Western thought would have you think so, we are not self-contained beings who judge our actions from an objective viewpoint. We're products of our environments and our pasts, and we're part of them just as they're part of us. So Lohan is, at least in part, a product of her milieu. Saying that isn't the same as saying she has no responsibility for her actions, but it is a legitimate way of explaining them.

Stories like this really irk me..... mostly because people go through this every day. But when it happens to a celebrity it's earth shattering (even though we all saw this coming a mile away!)

Personally (not that it's a huge secret) I used to be anorexic. Nobody "threw me a party" with an "outpouring of support for how brave I was to overcome it". Not that I would have wanted one, Im just sayin.

'Granted, I'd have more respect for her if she just said, "I took drugs because they feel good," but I live in the real world.'

Right. And I'm sure having an eating disorder feels GREAT too.

If you've ever known anyone who has had a serious drug problem, you'd probably come to figure out that while, yes, people do drugs because "they feel good," there are a great deal of factors leading to why people turn to drugs.

She's obviously had a lot of problems from various things in her life starting with her own parents. I in no way am excusing her mistakes, but my god...how quickly we judge.

All I have to say is if she is at the point in her life where she wants to make changes and become a healthy person, then good for her. If not, and she's still having problems, then I hope she gets through it.

You're right Plum I am assuming. I'm judging this situation based on what I've seen people who I cared about go through. And yeah that's probably wrong since everyone is their own individual. So in all probability, I shouldn't even be posting on this thread if I'm going to be biased. I know that. I'm just throwing out the way I view this. I don't know Lindsay Lohan and my guess is no one else who's posted on this thread is aquainted with her either...and if we don't know the exact facts then I suppose it's safe to say we're all just assuming, no? Unless I'm just sleepy and babbling.

The fact that she was doing drugs and was bulimic was not really a surprise to any of us. I think that she's acting very immature about all of this - she shouldn't have said anything. I'm not going to spend money to see this woman in a movie anymore. It's going to really affect her career. It's so sad though - she was so cute in The Parent Trap re: Lindsay Lohan admits bulimia, drug use--anyone else not surprised??.
