It takes two sides to settle. The case has been dragging on for four or five years already. I'm sure the plaintiff expected Liza to quickly cave in to his threats at the outset instead of fighting back.

Note: He didn't file suit util after she terminated his employment and part of the remedy his suit requested was restoration of his employment.

Ms Minnelli repeatedly tried to have the case thrown out and on several occasions attempted to avoid having to give evidence or go to court. In 2005, a five-judge panel of the state Appellate Division denied her request for Mr Soumayah to be gagged, saying he had a right for his case to be heard.

Seriously, if someone was paying me 240k a year, I'd totally bang them, especially if they are a legend, male or female. Unless its Arthur Laurents. Then I'd sue.

Since this case has been ongoing for quite a few years, I'm sure it's cost Liza a lot of money to retain lawyers and the like. It was probably cheaper to settle rather than continue in a court case, and further exhaust Liza's finance.

It's Liza's money. She can do with it, what she wants.

Going to trial is very, very expensive. Rather than spend more money, and risk him actually winning, it was probably much cheaper to settle. His lawyer will get 1/3 - if not more, Uncle Sam with get another 1/3, and he'll get the rest.

I wonder if the LIZA & DAVID reality show footage will ever leak.

There used to be a bunch of footage from it on YT that was pulled around the time YT became really popular. A real pity.

There is over a hundred hours of footage... when I finally see it someday I'll be sure to report back to you all!
